Organizational Context and Scope

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator (Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM)), the Reporting and Analytics Officer will support data analysis and reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting and consolidating high‑quality analytical and narrative reports based on DTM data, while also supporting the integration of relevant findings from other IOM Afghanistan programmes and mission‑wide assessments and surveys, as required, to facilitate coherent and integrated reporting outputs.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead the consolidation, and preparation of analytical and narrative reports based on Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) data, including regular DTM publications, analytical briefs, dashboards, and ad‑hoc reporting products.
  2. Draft, review, and finalize high‑quality DTM reporting outputs, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with IOM, DTM global standards, reporting frameworks, and data governance requirements.
  3. Lead and guide the consolidation, analysis, and synthesis of DTM and non-DTM datasets, findings, and indicators generated by IOM Afghanistan mission, including assessments, surveys, and monitoring activities to ensure comprehensive, multi-source evidence informs analysis and reporting. .
  4. Contribute to the development of integrated mission‑level reports, donor narratives, briefing notes, and analytical products, through the systematic integration of DTM data with relevant programme‑level data and assessment findings, ensuring rigorous analysis that reflect full breath of mission evidence while maintaining the analytical primacy of DTM evidence.
  5. Coordinate with information management, programme, and technical teams across the mission to collect, validate, harmonize, and interpret datasets used for reporting and analysis.
  6. Provide analytical and narrative inputs to strategic documents, situational updates, and thematic or cross‑sectoral reports drawing on both DTM outputs and complementary programme data.
  7. Ensure coherence, consistency, and alignment of messaging across reporting products by applying standardized indicators, terminology, and analytical approaches in line with mission and organizational priorities.
  8. Support quality assurance and review processes for reports and analytical outputs to ensure methodological soundness, data integrity, and clarity of presentation.
  9. Respond to ad‑hoc analytical and reporting requests from the DTM unit and senior management, including during emergency or rapid‑response situations.
  10. Maintain organized records of datasets, analytical products, and reporting materials to support knowledge management, institutional memory, and information sharing within the DTM unit and across the mission.
  11. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Migration Studies, Development Studies, International Relations or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or, 
  • University Degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Solid experience in data management, and experience working with large datasets and conducting research and data analysis (quantitative and qualitative); 
  • At least one year of work experience in DTM especially in DTM reporting;
  • Work experience in the use of Microsoft Office tools, Adobe illustrator and InDesign; and,
  • Experience working on migration issues from an econometric perspective.

Skills

  • Proven knowledge of statistical and data management software (e.g. STATA, SPSS, ODK/Kobo, etc); and,
  • Advanced skills in responsible and effective use of AI-enabled tools.

Languages

IOM's official languages are English, French, and Spanish.

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish), Pashto and/or Dari is an advantage.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
