Junior Expert Innovation*
in Bonn
The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with a contract duration of two years. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany. The position is paid according to our Junior Expert standard (€4,008 gross per month).
As a Junior Innovation Expert, you will support the execution of our annual Innovation Challenge “Seeding the Future – Global Food Systems Challenge”, foster partnerships, support internal and external events, drive communication, and contribute to innovative projects and ventures within Welthungerhilfe. We are looking for a candidate who has previous work experience in an NGO, speaks fluent English, and has hands-on experience with agile and innovation methodologies, experience in the design and implementation of communication strategies, and proficiency in design tools such as Canva.
Your responsibilities
- Support the planning and implementation of the Seeding the Future – Global Food Systems Challenge: organisation, coordination, communication, and logistics in collaboration with external partners
- Establish and maintain relationships with external partners interested in collaborating with the innovation team
- Communicate regularly to promote synergies and identify and approach potential new partners
- Support internal and external communication: promote internal communication within the innovation team and with other departments of Welthungerhilfe, as well as maintain communication with external partners and stakeholders, and develop and disseminate information materials on the activities and successes of the innovation team
- Organise and coordinate team meetings to strengthen cohesion and information sharing within an international, remote team
- Support the implementation of innovation projects, especially in the early phase (incubation)
- Participate in coordinating and monitoring project progress, and support in solving operational challenges during project implementation
- Collaborate in the preparation of reports on the status and success of innovation projects
- Support the preparation and submission of funding applications for further innovation projects
Your profile
- A university degree in a relevant field (e.g. innovation management, business administration, international development, social sciences, or a related discipline)
- Initial experience with innovation and/or entrepreneurship
- First experience in project management
- Strong communication skills, especially with external stakeholders
- Creativity and the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to challenges
- Basic knowledge of innovation, development cooperation, agriculture, technologies, user-centred design, and Scrum is desirable
- Good organisational skills
- Precision and attention to detail, as well as conscientiousness and reliability
- You recognise the growing value of data in your field and are eager to build your awareness and skills to incorporate data-informed approaches into your work
- Very good English skills; German and French language skills are an advantage
