1. SUMMARY
The Office of Strategic Communications (OSC) provides communications direction and guidance to stakeholders across the NATO enterprise and coordinates strategic communications activities across all NATO civilian and military bodies.
The multimedia producer lead is a keen visual communicator who conceives and produces a full range of platform-tailored, engaging and impactful multimedia content including reels, edited videos, animations, photos, graphics and other visuals for NATO’s digital ecosystem. Additionally, the incumbent supports the Head of Multimedia, and deputizes for them in their absence. The objective is to engage NATO’s audiences through @NATO social media platforms and the NATO website.
2. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The incumbent must:
• have a university degree in communication, journalism or a relevant field;
• have at least 3 years’ experience as a multimedia producer for social media platforms or in a similar role engaging audiences through visual storytelling, as well as expertise creating bespoke content for social media campaigns
• demonstrate sound political judgment and knowledge of current geopolitical events;
• have proven expertise in dealing with external media crews, production companies and in non-linear editing software, in particular Adobe Premiere Pro;
• possess the following minimum levels of NATO’s official languages (English/French): V (“Advanced”) in one; I (“Beginner”) in the other.
The following would be considered an advantage:
• knowledge of other software included in the Adobe Creative suite;
• experience working in an agency environment, as well as overseeing coverage of international events and presenting on camera;
• a higher level in the other official language.
3. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
Expertise Development. Keep abreast of social media trends and digital platforms, continuously exploring new techniques for enhancing multimedia production to increase audience engagement with NATO content. Be willing to deploy to demanding environments and ensure required pre-deployment training is maintained as valid. Participate to evaluation of activities and communications campaigns, to feed back into strategic planning and reporting.
Project Management. Organise and oversee all of the elements necessary to deliver projects of highest quality on time. Proactively provide editorial and production support to external contractors. Foresee requirements and make needs known to internal and external stakeholders. Secure all production logistics when preparing coverage. Deputize for the Head of Multimedia as required.
Information Management. Coordinate multimedia content through the approvals process, with careful attention to version control. Contribute to uploading content to the multimedia section of the NATO website for use by broadcasters, and ensure proper archival of content, being sure to follow all protocols related to file naming, tagging and metadata.
Knowledge Management. In a Microsoft Office environment, quickly and professionally write video and reel scripts, shot lists, collaterals such background information to microcontent and photo albums, including captions and all necessary releases. Prepare B-roll packages and other products for use by international media when required.
Perform any other related duty as assigned.

Reporting Line: The incumbent reports to the Head of Multimedia.
Interactions: The incumbent works in close collaboration with other staff members of OSC, with points of contact NATO-wide, as well as external contractors to create and distribute content efficiently and to the highest standards.

6. CONTRACT
Contract to be offered to the successful applicant (if non-seconded): Definite duration contract of three years; possibility of renewal for up to three years, during which the incumbent may apply for conversion to an indefinite duration contract.
Contract clause applicable:
In accordance with the contract policy, this is a post in which turnover is desirable for political reasons in order to be able to accommodate the Organisation's need to carry out its tasks as mandated by the Nations in a changing environment, for example by maintaining the flexibility necessary to shape the Organisation's skills profile, and to ensure appropriate international diversity.
The maximum period of service foreseen in this post is 6 years. The successful applicant will be offered a 3-year definite duration contract, which may be renewed for a further period of up to 3 years. However, according to the procedure described in the contract policy the incumbent may apply for conversion to an indefinite contract during the period of renewal and no later than one year before the end of contract.
If the successful applicant is seconded from the national administration of one of NATO’s member States, a 3-year definite duration contract will be offered, which may be renewed for a further period of up to 3 years subject also to the agreement of the national authority concerned. The maximum period of service in the post as a seconded staff member is six years.
Serving staff will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Régulations.
NOTE: Irrespective of previous qualifications and experience, candidates for twin-graded posts will be appointed at the lower grade. Advancement to the higher grade is not automatic, and will not normally take place during the first three years of service in the post.
Under specific circumstances, serving staff members may be appointed directly to the higher grade, and a period of three years might be reduced by up to twenty four months for external candidates. These circumstances are described in the IS directive on twin-graded posts.
