Purpose of Job
 
The Principal, GET Banker will support and expand the activities of the Bank in the area of climate change, resource efficiency technologies and related investments, through the identification and the development of dedicated projects and project components, innovative financing schemes and new partnerships and initiatives in order to align investments consistent with the Paris Agreement, and assist EBRD’s corporate clients to achieve a transformative shift towards a low-carbon pathway in the corporate sectors. 

Reporting to the Deputy Head of Turkiye, Corporates, the Principal contributes to direct investment projects in the corporate sector, dedicated policy dialogue and capacity building activities, specifically providing technical/business expertise in the definition and execution of such activities within the banking life cycle. 
  
The Principal, GET Banker will work in close coordination with the Climate Strategy and Delivery (CSD) Teams, Donor Co-Financing (DCF) and the Policy Strategy and Delivery (PSD) Teams. Reporting to Deputy Head of Turkiye, Corporates and working in close coordination with sector bankers (M&S, Agribusiness, Real Estate, TMT and Natural Resources), the Principal, GET Banker, will demonstrate a high commitment to the Bank’s mandate and institutional goals, as well as ability to drive performance excellence, support strategic thinking by helping design a structured approach. 

The Principal will have the below responsibilities:

Banking Projects:


•    Overall, be responsible and lead the implementation of the EBRD’s climate strategy in order to assist EBRD’s clients to achieve a transformative shift towards a low-carbon pathway focusing on Corporates.
•    Enable and support pipeline development and business development for eligible projects, including screening companies in terms of uptake of climate impact technologies and appetite for behavioural change at corporate governance.
•    Support all stages of project development by bringing specific technical and business expertise related to GET technologies, in order to substantiate the GET component and enhance the quality and transition impact of projects.
•    Work as a team member at project level to identify investment opportunities for climate and sustainable resource technologies (energy efficiency, water efficiency, materials efficiency, waste minimisation, circular economy), with specific focus on corporate sector operations.

Coordination:


•    Liaise with relevant internal teams (CSD, DP, PSD, ESD, Impact) to ensure good coordination and implementation of the ICA related projects/assignments.
•    Support banking teams with marketing and business development efforts in the relevant sectors to build reputable market contacts to develop a broad deal flow and cross selling, may include leading and/or supporting.
•    Ensure consistency and scalability of projects.
•    Coordinate internal and external visibility.
 

Management:


•    Take responsibility for the implementation and monitoring of all projects/assignments, including compliance with project eligibility requirements, monitoring of progress of the project/assignment implementation, and monitoring the implementation of advisory services by external experts.
•    Supervise the work of consultants hired under the program and contribute to procure experts needed to implement technical aspects of the projects.
•    Assist in developing relevant templates, forms and tools to facilitate successful implementation of the projects/assignments, as necessary.
•    Support policy dialogue activities undertaken in the context of the Turkiye Industrial Decarbonization Investment Platform (TIDIP) and any other related with corporate sectors, including working on low-carbon strategies/pathways at the country level.
•    Ensure completion of all tasks within specified timeframe to a high standard and in line with the policies, procedures and objectives of the EBRD.

Skills and Experience


•    Relevant degree in an engineering discipline, (e.g. mechanical/environmental/chemical engineering). 
•    Solid technical and commercial experience (5–10 years) combining: i) a background in engineering, consulting, or in companies operating in energy, chemicals, construction, or manufacturing sectors; and ii) professional experience in a financial institution such as a bank, equity fund, or corporate finance/advisory firm. A demonstrable track record in successful project development, structuring and implementation is essential.
•    Strong quantitative/numerical skills are critical with the ability to interpret financial information and to design and use financial models.
•    Credit analysis skills, with the ability to interpret accounts, understanding local and international accounting principles and practice of credit analysis.
•    Good knowledge and understanding of the Paris Agreement and of the design / development / implementation of Low Carbon Roadmaps / Pathways.
•    Proven strong analytical skills are critical, with the ability to summarise data and information.
•    Good understanding of policy analysis and policy formulation in the areas of climate change, resource efficiency, energy efficiency, technology transfer and energy.
•    Computer literacy, conversant with Microsoft Office.
•    Ability to work effectively as a team member, to deadlines and under time pressure.
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Turkish. 
•    Relevant financial industry experience from a similar international financial institution or international organisation.
•    Familiarity with the international green and climate policies, in particular the Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement;
•    Specific experience with project management, including designing terms of reference (ToRs) and budgets, management of external consultants/partners, reporting to donors and organising visibility activities.
•    Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the EBRD’s mandate and operations.
•    Knowledge of specific value chains in M&S, Natural Resources, Real Estate, TMT and Agribusiness.
