The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral, and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance. The ICRC is mandated to work in countries affected by armed conflict or other situations of violence. The ICRC is present in over 100 countries and has some 18,000 staff worldwide. In 2014, the ICRC expanded its presence in Ukraine. Over 900 team members working across the county in various professional fields.
ABOUT THE JOB
The ICRC Water and Habitat Unit seeks a competent Water and Habitat (WatHab) Project Officer to join our team in Kyiv. The WatHab Project Officer plans, designs and implements engineering projects, monitors on-site works, and carries out needs assessments and surveys. The WatHab Project Officer will provide a close working relationship with external stakeholders related to the WatHab projects.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop project documents such as drawings, bills of quantities, and contracts while ensuring compliance with ICRC standards and local regulations
- Monitor on-site work, supervise contractors, and ensure quality control, taking corrective action when necessary
- Gather and analyze technical information related to Water and Habitat programs, contributing to effective project planning and execution
- Participate in assessments, design, and documentation for construction and rehabilitation projects in places of detention
- Collaborate with the Logistics Unit to create tender documents, specifications, and contracts while organizing payments efficiently
- Guide contractors on-site and train end-users in operating and maintaining the infrastructure built or rehabilitated by the ICRC
- Create and update electronic project files (e.g., in the Project and Activity Management system) and provide regular implementation and progress report

ABOUT YOU
To be successful as WatHab Project Officer in the Water and Habitat Unit, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:
- Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine
- University degree in a relevant field (e.g., Energy, Environmental, Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, or Electromechanical Engineering, or a related discipline)
- Preferably 3–5 years of professional experience in a field related to Water and Habitat (WatHab) activities
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and similar design and drafting software
- Computer literacy and ability to use standard office and technical applications
- Solid understanding of core engineering and construction principles
- Good command of English and Ukrainian, both spoken and written
- Self-motivated with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principles
- Flexible, enthusiastic, and willing to learn
- Ability to work independently, as well as effectively under supervision
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work within a diverse team and establish and maintain good working relations in a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multi-disciplinary environment
