The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is hiring a Senior Investment & Risk Analyst within the Banking Middle Office unit.

Purpose of the job:
Our mission is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international partnership and to act as a bank for central banks.
In this role, you will contribute to the BIS' asset management business by supporting strategic development and enabling informed investment decisions through advanced analytics and comprehensive reporting.

Principal Accountabilities:
- Design, implement, and refine analytical tools and methodologies to assess valuation, performance, and (ex-ante) risk of the Bank’s asset management portfolios.
- Coordinate and contribute to the design and implementation of the investment strategy for the BIS Pension Fund assets.
- Brief management and committees on realised portfolio performance, risk exposures, and potential future scenarios, supporting sound decision-making.
- Produce regular reports on realised performance, performance attribution and key risk exposures.
- Work closely with IT teams and external providers to define and implement data requirements for performance analytics and reporting solutions, and resolve valuation, performance, and risk-related issues.
- Drive or contribute to major projects, such as new investments, customer products, system enhancements and the adoption of new technologies including AI for asset management.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
- Strong academic background in a quantitative field such as finance, data science / mathematics, or economics (ideally at MSc/PhD level).
- Significant experience in asset management, risk management, or related fields, demonstrating a strong foundation in these areas. Experience with central bank reserve management activities is a plus.
- Practical expertise in quantitative analysis, investment strategy, risk management, or similar technical and analytical field.
- Expertise in asset pricing, risk measurement, performance attribution and portfolio optimisation using advanced quantitative methods.
- Very good skills with Python or similar tools for data analysis and automation, with experience in utilizing AI-driven techniques and methodologies in asset management.
- Skilled in defining and implementing data requirements for analytics and reporting in collaboration with IT teams and external providers.
- Demonstrated ability to lead key change initiatives, drive innovation, or implement process enhancements effectively.
- Strong presentation skills with proficiency in English.
- Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills to successfully lead and execute major initiatives.
