About this position
We are looking for an analytical, committed, and responsible Agricultural Impact Evaluation Consultant. As an Agricultural Impact Evaluation Consultant, you will provide specialized technical support across all stages of impact evaluations of agricultural projects, including sample design, questionnaire design, training and logistical coordination for data collection, microeconomic data analysis, and the preparation of reports and publications such as technical notes, working papers, and peer-reviewed articles.
You will work in the Agriculture and Rural Development Division (PTI/ARD), part of the Productivity, Trade, and Innovation Sector (PTI). This team is responsible for advancing productivity and sustainable development by designing and supporting policies, programs, and research initiatives in agriculture, trade, and innovation.
What you’ll do
- Design impact evaluations for agricultural and environmental projects using experimental or quasi-experimental methods.
- Develop questionnaires and data collection instruments for baseline and follow-up surveys.
- Create sampling strategies, including power calculations and stratification for representativeness.
- Support and participate in training and logistics for field data collection.
- Clean, validate, document, and build consistent panel datasets from survey data.
- Conduct descriptive and advanced econometric analyses to identify causal impacts.
- Ensure comparability between treatment and control groups and validate evaluation designs.
- Generate key agricultural indicators (productivity, income, costs, technology adoption, climate-smart practices).
- Perform literature reviews and contribute to research, integrating qualitative and quantitative findings.
- Prepare reports, academic papers, and dissemination materials, and support presentations and project missions.
What you'll need
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Economics, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
- Experience: At least 2 years of progressive experience designing and implementing impact evaluations, advanced proficiency in Stata, including data management and programming. Experience in agriculture evaluation impact is preferred.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, is required.

Type of contract and duration
International consultant Full-Time, 13.50 months (up to 48 months, subject to eligibility).
