Job Description

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Ukraine and the National Protection Officer, and with the direct supervision of the National Protection Officer (Prevention & Outreach), the incumbent will assist in the implementation of the Prevention and Outreach portfolio of the Protection Programme as well as assist with other protection activities in Ukraine.

Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the implementation of prevention-focused projects aimed at reducing protection risks, including human trafficking, gender-based violence (GBV), exploitation, abuse, and other forms of harm, in line with approved workplans.

  2. Assist in  the adaptation and updating of prevention tools and information materials, including safety guidelines, awareness-raising games and digital tools, and community-level prevention resources tailored to the needs of vulnerable populations.

  3. Assist with prevention efforts at the national level, including assistance prepararing campaign content, materials, and messaging in line with IOM prevention and visibility standards.

  4. Maintain communication with partner NGOs, service providers, government  stakeholders and other team members to support prevention activities and dissemination of prevention-related materials, and assist with monitoring prevention activities at specific locations/oblasts.

  5. Assist in the preparation, production, and distribution of visibility and printed materials promoting Protection Programme activities and services.

  6. Assist in applying protection risk prevention and mitigation approaches across assigned activities, including integrating safe messaging, referral information, gender quality, disability inclusion and do-no-harm principles into prevention tools and campaigns.

  7. Assist in collecting and systematizing data related to prevention activities and campaigns, and provide inputs for internal updates, donor reporting, project documentation, and prevention-related communication materials, in line with protection principles.

  8. Support the administrative organization of prevention activities, logistical arrangements for trainings, workshops, conferences, seminars and roundtables.

  9. Undertake duty travel based on programme needs.

  10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma with five years of professional work experience; or

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, Education, Law and International Relations or related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant work experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience supporting outreach and communication activities.

  • Experience in the thematic area of protection, including countering human trafficking, exploitation, and gender-based violence, and especially in the prevention/ awareness raising pillar. 

  • Experience in liaising and cooperating with governmental authorities, UN partners and NGOs, as well as other internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Experience working in humanitarian and/or emergency response and post-conflict environments, particularly related to internal displacement and mixed migration

  • Previous work experience in IOM or a UN agency is preferable.

SKILLS

  • Ability to collect and compile qualitative information to support programme activities. 

  • Good communication and writing skills, including basic presentation skills. 

  • Proficiency in computer skills, especially with graphic design software and social media tools.
     

  • Languages

    For this position, fluency in English and Ukrainian is required.
