RESEARCH ASSISTANT

The International Potato Center (CIP) is looking for One (1) Research Assistant to join its team at the CIP South Asia Regional Center (CSARC) in Agra, India.

About CSARC: The CIP – South Asia Regional Center (CSARC), Agra, serves as a key hub for agricultural research and development focused on root and tuber crops (RCT), particularly potato and sweet potato systems in South Asia. The center supports R&D initiatives aimed at improving crop productivity, climate resilience, and sustainable farming practices. It collaborates with national research institutions, government agencies, private players, and development partners to promote innovative agricultural solutions.

About the position: The successful candidate will be based out at CSARC office in Agra and will work in close coordination with CIP offices in the region and headquarter in Lima, Peru. The selected candidate will be dedicated to safeguarding potato and sweet potato systems against emerging biosecurity threats and climate-driven pathogens. .



Requirements

Key responsibilities:


1. Research Support & Resource Planning

·Assist in the design, execution, and monitoring of research activities and experiments.

·Help maintaining proper documentation of methodologies, observations, and outcomes.

·Support troubleshooting and implementation adjustments during experiments.

·Maintain organized digital records of datasets, reports, and findings.

·Monitor requirements for research inputs, materials, and equipment.

·Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely availability.

·Track inventory and maintain optimal stock levels for ongoing research activities.

·Support science team in budgeting inputs related to research materials and resources.



2. Documentation & Knowledge Management

·Develop briefing notes, background documents, and reference materials for meetings, reviews, and field missions.

·Ensure systematic document management using digital tools such as MS Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.

·Maintain version control and proper archival of key documents.


3. Stakeholder Coordination & Communication

·Support CSARC Director for day-to-day office coordination and act as a liaison between the Director’s Office, internal departments, and external partners.

·Facilitate clear and timely communication across stakeholders.

·Support Director office in coordination in project execution.

·Coordinate with logistics and science teams for planning and execution in organizing internal and external visits, meetings, and events at CSARC.


What are we looking for?


·Bachelor's degree in science, Agriculture, or a related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in similar roles. Experience in potato / sweet potato research will be an added advantage.

·Excellent written and oral communication skills.
