Duties and Responsibilities
The objective of this internship is to support the GFO Protection team, under the technical oversight of HQ, in improving the quality, accessibility, and usability of existing datasets, and to contribute to data analysis and reporting that informs both field-level and organizational decision-making. Scope of Work: Under the supervision of the Protection Analyst, and in coordination with HQ technical units, the intern will: • Support data entry and consolidation from various sources (ActivityInfo, Excel, reports, etc.) • Clean datasets by identifying and correcting errors, duplicates, and inconsistencies • Organize and maintain structured databases and filing systems • Assist in developing simple data management tools/templates (e.g., spreadsheets, trackers) • Conduct basic data analysis (descriptive statistics, summaries, simple visualizations) • Draft and contribute to regular reporting products in English (e.g., situation updates, summaries, briefing notes) • Support preparation of data summaries, dashboards, and presentations as needed • Ensure datasets and outputs are aligned with HQ data standards, tools, and reporting requirements • Support consolidation of data inputs for HQ-level analysis, reporting, and global information products • Liaise with relevant HQ focal points, as required, to ensure consistency in approaches and outputs • Ensure proper documentation of data processes and changes made • Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards at all times
Qualifications/special skills
• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Humanitarian Action, Economics, Social Sciences, Communications, or related field • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (required) • Familiarity with data cleaning and basic analysis techniques • Knowledge of ActivityInfo and Power BI is an asset • Ability to handle large datasets accurately and efficiently • Ability to synthesize data into meaningful insights and narratives
Languages
• Strong written communication skills in English, with the ability to draft clear and concise reports
