What we are looking for

NRC Syria is in search of an Area Manager to join the South-Central Office. The role holder will ensure high-quality implementation of NRC’s core competencies, manage support functions, ensure compliance with NRC policies, and representing NRC at the area level. Additionally, they are a key member of the Country Management Group (CMG) and contribute to strategic decision-making.

What you will bring

  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, Development Studies, Business Administration or related field required.  Master’s degree is an added value.

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant leadership/management experience within the humanitarian field

  • Experience in conflict-affected settings, Middle East preferred. 

  • Proven skills in leadership, management of large and diverse team, and strategic planning.

  • Demonstrated experience in security management and risk mitigation.

  • Strong budget management, HR and logistics oversight experience

  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing environments.

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal 

  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity.

  • Critical thinking with a constructive approach to problem-solving.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated commitment to staff well-being, inclusion, and team dynamics, especially in multi-cultural settings.

  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills.

  • Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.

What we offer:

  • Duty station: Homs/Damascus/Dara’a

  • Contract: Fixed Term -renewable based on performance and funding.

  • Travel: 30-40%

  • Salary/benefits: Grade 10 on NRC’s Syria’s national or international salary scale (Open to both national and international).
