Overview of positionUnder the overall supervision of Programme Coordinator (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Associate (MHPSS)/ Team Leader/ Medical Doctor and administrative supervision of the Head of Sub Office/ regional coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible and accountable for will actively engage in the implementation of MHPSS activities including social considerations in basic services and security, strengthening community and family supports, focused non-specialized services and ensure referral to specialized services, as required in their related provinces. She/He is expected to carry out their duties in accordance with the strictest ethical standards, and with due respect for gender and socio-cultural sensitivities.
Role objectivesCore Functions / Responsibilities:

Support the delivery of MHPSS activities, including Psychological First Aid (PFA), individual or group counselling sessions to the affected people that are identified by or through our client Migration Health Team as an integrated approach.

Assist in implementation of structured psychosocial support activities for displaced and migrant populations in the designated locations, in collaboration with MHU and ensure that the implementation of social, religious, and educational/vocational activities are culturally appropriate.

Support the identification and documentation of psychosocial needs, and proposition needed interventions to reduce risks and increase the resilience capacity within the displaced and migrant populations.

Organize and lead support groups, focus group discussions and community awareness raising sessions and contribute to development of messages related to MHPSS messages and materials.

Support the Senior Programme Associate Project Assistant (MHPSS) in the organization and delivery of training or workshops tailored for community awareness sessions on basic MHPSS topics. issues and remedies.

Conduct routine monitoring and data collection, including beneficiary relevant information, basic activity reports and simple beneficiary feedback, and contribute to monthly activity reporting as required.

Refer beneficiaries requiring specialized mental health care in coordination with Senior Programme Associate (MHPSS) / Team Leader / Medical Doctor on cases requiring higher level interventions and in line with established referral pathways.

Participate in relevant coordination meetings (e.g. MHPSS TWG, MHWG) at local provincial level.

Always ensure confidentiality and respectful handling of beneficiary information, in line with our client policies and ethical standards.
Carry out any other duties assigned by the supervisor in support of MHPSS programme implementation.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Counselling, Social Works, Psychiatric Nursing, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least one (1) year of relevant work experience in MHPSS or community-based activities.
Or
-
Certificate or diploma from accredited institutions in the above field with three (3) years of relevant counselling or MHPSS experience.
Experience:
-
Demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills, including experience supporting group sessions, psychoeducation and community-based activities.
-
Experience working in the humanitarian sector, preferably within MHPSS programme.
-
Practical working knowledge of counselling approaches and community mobilization methods, applied in line with approved guidelines and supervision.

Experience working closely with medical teams and community-based organizations, including coordination and follow-up support.

Experience supporting individuals affected by distress, with cases managed under close supervision and in accordance with ethical standards and referral pathways. Proven experience working in emergency and/or development project, with the ability to adapt activities to changing field contexts
Skills:

Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures accurately under close supervision. Ability to observe, document, and summarize psychosocial concerns clearly and accurately, and communicate them to supervisor for follow-up.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, including basic report drafting and participation in meetings and discussions

Demonstrated empathy and professionalism when supporting vulnerable individuals and groups. Attention to accuracy and detail when completing routine documentation such as beneficiary relevant information, MHPSS activities, and simple reports.

Willingness to learn and receive guidance, including feedback on interpersonal skills.
Languages:

For all Applicants, fluency in English is required (oral and written).

Working knowledge of Pashto or Dari is required.

Fluency in all national language(s) are highly advantages.
