The Bank for International Settlements, BIS is hiring a Senior Advisor within the Financial Stability Institute (FSI).
This role is based in Basel, however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.
This job is available as three years fixed-term.

Purpose of the job:
The main purpose of the job is to assist financial sector authorities globally in strengthening their financial systems by supporting their implementation of international financial regulatory standards and sound supervisory practices particularly through FSI’s activities related to technology and innovation.
By joining the Financial Stability Institute (FSI) team, you will:
contribute to global financial stability by supporting implementation of international financial regulatory standards.
collaborate with a diverse network of financial authorities and professionals globally.
lead projects on technology and innovation in financial regulation.
Principal accountabilities:
Lead and contribute to the FSI’s policy work including by authoring papers.
Organise, chair, and present at FSI outreach events in Switzerland and around the world.
Contribute to FSI Connect, the BIS’s e-learning tool, by developing and updating the content to maintain its relevance for the supervisory community.
Design, organise and chair online courses.
Maintain knowledge of regulatory developments at leading financial authorities especially those related to the implications of technology and innovation.
Build strong relationships with financial supervisory authorities, regional groups, and international organisations, representing the FSI in relevant groups/meetings.
Qualifications, skills, and experience:
Advanced degree in finance, economics or other relevant discipline.
A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in financial regulation, supervision and/or financial stability, gained at central banks, supervisory authorities, and/or international financial organisations including in the financial, consulting or technology industries.
Strong knowledge of international financial regulatory standards and the regulatory impact of emerging technologies such as AI, digital assets, and tokenisation.
Excellent analytical, drafting, and presentation skills, with experience delivering to large and diverse audiences.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines, with strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
Willingness to travel internationally.
Excellent command of English (verbal and writing).
Experience in insurance regulation/supervision including in the context of technology and innovation, and experience working in an international environment is an asset.
