Overview of positionUnder the overall supervision of the Senior/Program Associate (MHU) and direct supervision of the health facility in charge/Team Leader, and administrative supervision of relevant Heads of Sub Office/regional coordinator, the Vaccinator will actively engage in community and facility-based immunization activities, inclusive of Routine Immunization, Polio, risk communication and community engagement activities. The vaccinator is expected to carry out his/her duties in accordance with the strictest ethical standards, building and maintaining partnerships with the government, international organizations, and non-governmental agencies, and with due respect for gender and socio-cultural sensitivities. Deployment areas may include IDP settlements in rural or remote areas within the project scope.
Role objectivesCore Functions / Responsibilities:

Provide routine immunization and polio vaccines to eligible children and women at fixed, outreach, and mobile sessions in line with MoPH/EPI guidelines.

Screen children and women for due or missed vaccinations and ensure completion of doses according to the national schedule.

Conduct community sensitization and health education on vaccine‑preventable diseases and the importance of routine immunization.
-
Engage families, community mobilizers, and local leaders to address refusals and improve immunization uptake.

Implement session plans and micro‑plans for fixed and outreach immunization activities in coordination with the health facility team.

Maintain accurate EPI registers and tracking tools, including line listings, defaulter and absent lists.

Ensure vaccine safety and cold chain maintenance, including temperature monitoring, VVM checks, and reporting of any cold chain issues.

Respond promptly to cold chain irregularities and report concerns to the health facility in charge or supervisor.

Accurately record and report vaccination data using approved tools (paper registers, Kobo) and submit timely monthly activity reports.

Adhere to infection prevention and control (IPC) standards, uphold professional conduct.

Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the line supervisor.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education:
-
Diploma in Nursing, Midwifery, Laboratory, Pharmacy from an accredited academic institution with one (1) year of relevant professional experience.
or
High school diploma with a valid certificate for the three-month initial MOPH/EPI immunization training with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience.

Experience in relevant vaccination and outreach health promotive and preventive activities.
-
Completion of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH)/EPI initial three‑month immunization training is required. Participation in vaccination refresher training is an added advantage.

Previous experience in an international organization is an advantage.

Experience of working in a medical emergency / Trauma department will be an advantage.
Skills:
-
Proficient in basic clinical practices, including infection prevention and control (IPC), vaccination procedures, surveillance data collection, and health education.

Ability to work effectively with partners, and community members to support immunization activities and service uptake.
-
Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, rapidly changing environments.

Strong communication and facilitation skills

Willingness to work long hours and weekends when necessary.
Languages:
-
For all Applicants, fluency in English is required (oral and written).

Working knowledge of Pashto or Dari is required.

Fluency in all national language(s) are highly advantages.
