The Scope
FSC is looking for a dynamic and experienced membership professional to lead membership development and engagement across Europe. This is a unique opportunity to shape how one of the world's most recognized sustainability standards engages with its diverse European member base - spanning environmental NGOs, social organizations, and economic actors across the region.
The successful candidate will bring deep familiarity with the European landscape - its stakeholder ecosystems, regional dynamics, and cultural diversity - and will translate that knowledge into impactful membership strategies that strengthen FSC's mission on the ground.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
Membership Development
- Lead the growth and development of FSC membership across the European region
- Analyse the current membership landscape to identify gaps in chamber and geographical representation
- Identify and engage potential new members that strengthen FSC's mission and diversity across the region
Outreach & Engagement
- Design and implement outreach strategies to expand FSC's European membership base
- Develop and execute an engagement plan that increases and diversifies participation across chambers and geographies
- Build and maintain strong relationships with members, regional networks, and stakeholder communities - drawing on an established European professional network
Member Services
- Deliver high-quality member services, keeping members informed on key FSC processes, governance, and strategic topics
- Provide guidance, information, and training to members across the region as needed
- Act as a trusted point of contact and advocate for European members within FSC International
Your profile
Education
- University degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, International Relations, Communications, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, or equivalent
Experience
- Demonstrated professional experience, including stakeholder relations, outreach, or membership/network development with international organizations or cross-border project
- Proven track record working within or across European institutions, networks, civil society, or multi-stakeholder platforms as well as engaging diverse actors across different European countries and cultural contexts
Skills & Competencies
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across cultural and sectoral boundaries
- Excellent networking ability with an existing or readily buildable European professional network
Linguistic Skills
- Full professional fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Fluency in one or more additional European languages (e.g. French, Spanish) is a strong advantage and reflects the regional scope of this role
Technical Skills
- Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics
