Overview

The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to our mission of saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. We work at the invitation of governments to support them and the private sector to create and sustain high-quality health systems.

CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Over the following two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus. Today, along with HIV, we work with our partners to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. Our work has also expanded into cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases, and we work to accelerate the rollout of lifesaving vaccines, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and increase access to assistive technology. We are investing in horizontal approaches to strengthen health systems through programs in human resources for health, digital health, and health financing. With each new and innovative program, our strategy is grounded in maximizing sustainable impact at scale, ensuring that governments lead the solutions, that programs are designed to scale nationally, and learnings are shared globally.

At CHAI, our people are our greatest asset, and none of this work would be possible without their talent, time, dedication, and passion for our mission and values. We are a highly diverse team of enthusiastic individuals across 40 countries with a broad range of skill sets and life experiences. CHAI is deeply grounded in the countries we work in, with the majority of our staff based in program countries. Learn more about our exciting work: http://www.clintonhealthaccess.org.

CHAI is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and is committed to providing an environment of fairness, and mutual respect where all applicants have access to equal employment opportunities. CHAI values diversity and inclusion, and recognizes that our mission is best advanced by the leadership and contributions of people with diverse experience, backgrounds, and culture.

Overview of role

CHAI is seeking a highly motivated individual to work as a Vector Control Forecast Associate, supporting the delivery of global forecasting analyses for malaria vector control commodities — specifically insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) and indoor residual spraying (IRS) insecticides.

This role will primarily focus on data analysis, model execution, and output generation using pre-developed forecasting tools, methodologies, and standard operating procedures. The Associate will support the production of 5-year demand projections and contribute to two key annual forecast cycles. Working closely with senior team members, the Associate will run analyses, validate outputs, and incorporate internal and external feedback in a structured and timely manner. As they build familiarity with the team’s tools and workflows, there will be scope over the course of the year to take on greater ownership of analytical processes and deepen engagement with global partners.

CHAI places great value on personal qualities including resourcefulness, humility, a strong work ethic, and a genuine willingness to learn. The successful candidate will demonstrate solid analytical skills, proficiency in Excel and R, and the ability to communicate outputs clearly and concisely. This role offers an early-career professional a meaningful entry point into global health analytics, with real opportunities to grow within a high-impact, mission-driven team.

Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Model Execution

  • Execute forecasting models using pre-defined methodologies, tools, and SOPs
  • Clean, organize, and validate datasets used in forecasting analyses
  • Generate demand projection outputs for ITN and IRS commodities
  • Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses under the guidance of senior team members

Forecast Development

  • Complete 5-year vector control demand projections across two annual forecast cycles (main forecast and scenario update)
  • Review all outputs for consistency and accuracy before stakeholder review and dissemination
  • Contribute to the preparation of forecast slide decks and supporting materials for Steering Committee presentations and manufacturer webinars
  • Develop supporting materials for forecast result presentations aimed at key stakeholders, including the Steering Committee, manufacturers, and global partners
  • Support the team in addressing questions on analysis from manufacturers and other partners

Cross-Team Coordination

  • Work closely with colleagues leading the case management workstream to ensure alignment between vector control and case management commodity projections
  • Coordinate with internal teams to organize review processes and address feedback from both internal reviewers and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate on narrative development

Data Management and Methods Documentation

  • Compile and update data inputs from internal teams and external partners
  • Track and document changes to key assumptions, model inputs, and methods across forecast cycles
  • Document methods for the scenario update cycle, incorporating changes identified through ongoing monitoring
  • Maintain organized datasets and supporting documentation in line with team standards

Dashboard and Quality Control

  • Provide forecast numbers to be uploaded in the dashboard and review vector control forecast dashboards to ensure outputs and numbers are accurate
  • Follow established SOPs and quality control protocols throughout all stages of analysis
  • Support consistency between methods, outputs, and dissemination materials
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required (e.g., economics, statistics, mathematics, data science, public health, or related field), with at least 1–2 years of experience in data analysis, consulting, research, or a similar analytical role
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint (required)
  • Demonstrated experience with analytical tools in R
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage increased workload intensity during forecast publication cycles
  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Ability to follow structured methodologies and work effectively within existing model frameworks
  • Clear and concise communication skills, written and verbal in English
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment

Advantages

  • Experience working with large datasets or data cleaning pipelines
  • Exposure to forecasting, modelling, or applied quantitative analysis
  • Familiarity with dashboards or data visualization tools (e.g., R Shiny)
  • Experience supporting analytical projects in a collaborative team environment
  • Background in global health or public health (not required)
