Background Information
Working under the overall supervision of the Head of Office, the intern will support selected coordination, communication and follow-up activities of the Mission. The internship aims to provide exposure to senior-level coordination, external relations support, and institutional communication processes within a UN organization.
Responsibilities

Working under the overall supervision of the Head of Office, the intern will support selected coordination, communication and follow-up activities of the Mission.
Learning Objectives - Support the coordination and management of the Head of Office’s agenda and correspondence, including calendar management, meeting scheduling and preparation of draft correspondence for review and clearance.
- Assist in the coordination of internal and external meetings, missions and official travel, including logistical arrangements, preparation of agendas and compilation of background materials.
- Provide support to high-level meetings and events, including preparation of briefing notes, participant lists and meeting documentation.
- Draft minutes, meeting notes and follow-up documents after meetings, ensuring accuracy and timely follow-up, under supervision.
- Support stakeholder mapping, contact tracking and follow-up, including preparation and dissemination of IOM information materials and presentations cleared by the supervisor, to contribute to the Mission’s institutional positioning.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned, in line with the learning objectives of the internship and under close supervision.

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education

Must, at the time of application, a) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or b) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or c) have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation;
Experience
Some prior experience in an office, administrative, coordination or communications environment is an advantage.

Demonstrated experience (academic or practical) in:
- meeting organization, scheduling, or event support;
- preparing written summaries, notes, or reports (e.g. meeting minutes, briefs, follow‑up notes).
- Exposure to or strong interest in public administration, international relations, political science, EU affairs, or related fields is an asset.
- Experience interacting with diverse stakeholders (e.g. academic institutions, public bodies, NGOs, international organizations) is desirable.
Skills
- Strong drafting skills in English; working knowledge of Hungarian is a strong asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) or equivalent productivity tools.

Demonstrated ability to handle information with discretion, professionalism and attention to detail.
Languages
For this internship, fluency in English and Hungarian are required.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Notes
Depending on experience and location, interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by their university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend.
IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the internship. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
