Short Description:
In the Rohingya refugee response in Cox’s Bazar, access to quality, inclusive, and safe education remains a critical priority. Due to high student numbers, limited resources, and diverse learning needs, including language barriers and interrupted schooling. teachers require additional support to effectively manage classrooms and deliver learning outcomes.
The Education Assistant position is established to strengthen classroom monitoring and ensure learner-cantered, inclusive education. Working closely with teachers and education teams, the Education Assistant supports monitoring, student engagement, and materials distribution, while helping create a safe and supportive learning environment for Rohingya children and host community learners. This role is essential in improving the quality of education services and ensuring that all children can participate and benefit from structured learning opportunities.

Key Tasks and Assignments:
- Under the supervision of Coordinator, facilitate awareness raising, sensitization, orientation and assistance activities in accordance with the standard operating procedures, guidelines and instructions.
- Implement the programme in the assigned location; she/he is directly responsible for the quality and timely implementation of all planned activities and achievement of the targets set; she/he has the obligation to timely flag potential challenges and risks and request for support.
- Create a safe classroom/ learning centre environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of children and youth both inside and outside the centre
- Provides direction, assigns tasks and gives instructions to contingent workers (e.g. trainers) and evaluates individual performance.
- Monitors the progress of activities of assigned daily workers and ensures they are implemented conform planning and quality standards.
- Ensures compliance with NRC SOPs
- Take part in mobilization and conducting of needs assessments, studies and research using focus group discussions, interviews and questionnaires.
- Conducts outreach activities within the camps and serve as a link between NRC programs and the local community.
- Contribute to preparation of relevant documents and material.
- Ensure the monitoring and quality check of the NRC activities conducted in the assigned location by contributing to data collection, data entry, documentation, data analysis and drafting of regular activity implementation and monitoring reports, as per NRC log frame and donor requirements.
- Monitor the inventory and alert officer when more education materials are needed.
- Contribute to the recruitment of contingent workers as per need. She/he is responsible for ensuring that the newly recruited resources are properly inducted/trained, and their work assignments are managed properly.
- Keep track and record attendance of contingent workers and submit for payrolls.
- Establish excellent relations with beneficiaries and key stakeholders including understanding the needs of beneficiaries through regular visits and frequent contact.
- Supports training programs to contribute to sector-wide educational improvements and curricular activities.

Key Education and Skills Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Education or social science or any other discipline
- Similar 1 year of working experience in Cox's Bazar Education Response. Working in Cox’s Bazar/emergency context. experience in Rohingya context education is mandatory.
- Proven experience in conducting training facilitation
- Basic Reporting skills
- Good knowledge of the Rohingya context in Bangladesh.
- Professional fluency in the Bangla and English language
- Ability to communicate in Chittagonian dialect.
- Experience working with children, youth and/or educators.
- Efficient Documentation in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power point etc.)
- Training facilitation, Volunteer supervision experience is preferred
