The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is hiring a Business Analyst within the Banking - Regional Back Office and Transformation Support team.

This role is based in Basel, Switzerland; however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Purpose of the job:

Our mission is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international partnership and to act as a bank for central banks.

As a Business Analyst, you will contribute to this mission by offering support to the Back Office team with the coordination and implementation of ongoing optimisation of business processes.

By joining the Regional Back Office and Transformation Support team, you will:

  • Identify change initiatives that simplify and streamline operations in the Back Office.

  • Contribute to new initiatives and projects in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Play a proactive role in improving processes to reduce low-value tasks and enhance overall efficiency.

  • Draft business requirements for the enhancement and automation of Back Office processes.

  • Document test cases and undertake user acceptance testing.

  • Represent Back Office in cross-units and Bank-wide projects, and provide status updates to the relevant steering committees.

  • Partner with the Bank's IT teams and external service providers to coordinate the maintenance/enhancement of systems used by Back Office.

  • Keep abreast of major technology trends and developments relevant to Banking operations.

  • Communicate with colleagues and customers using objective and balanced arguments. Analyse problems and propose solutions.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • A university degree in computer science, a quantitative field, or a related discipline.

  • Proven professional experience in financial services operations or within IT departments.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse processes and translate business needs into system requirements.

  • Good knowledge of banking business practices (financial instruments, trading platforms, market infrastructures, etc.).

  • Experience with SWIFT messaging standards.

  • Very strong IT skills with an in depth knowledge of banking systems.

  • Creative in finding new solutions / making use of new technologies (e.g. Artificial Intelligence).

  • Excellent written and oral English language skills.

  • Understanding of end-to-end project lifecycles.

  • Experience in developing and executing test plans.
