Duties and Responsibilities
The intern will provide support for activities relating to project planning, implementation and monitoring, research, data analysis, and communications, under the direct supervision of the Associate Programme Officer, TIPSOM Unit. He/she shall undertake the following duties which may include, but are not limited to: • Assist in the preparation/revision of detailed work plans for project implementation, • Contribute daily to the implementation of project activities within the deadlines set by the work plan, • Participate in field visits as part of the monitoring of project implementation, • Assist in the regular evaluation of the progress of activities and document the project with all relevant materials, • Contribute to the strengthening of the network with partners with an interest in the project's field of intervention, • Ensure the collection of relevant and up-to-date information from different sources for project implementation and evaluation, • Organize and coordinate the filing of correspondence/documents and ensure that they are regularly updated, • Provide information/guidance to implementing partners on the implementation of projects on the production of supporting documents for expenses related to Project activities, • Provide administrative support for the preparation and implementation of all activities related to the fight against trafficking in persons and smuggling of migrants, including workshops and training seminars, • Perform any other task compatible with his or her duties. The intern is UNPAID.
Qualifications/special skills
An advanced university degree (Master) in law, international relations, administration, management or communication. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). (OFFICIAL WRITTEN PROOF FROM THE UNIVERSITY SUPPORTING ONE OF THE ABOVE POSSIBILITIES MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE INSPIRA APPLICATION); Be computer-literate in standard software applications; Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts in desirable. Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.
Languages
English or French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the internship advertised, fluency in oral and written in English and French is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantaged.
