The Logistics Cluster is a service cluster, supporting the humanitarian community to ensure critical assistance gets to where it is needed. The Logistics Cluster provides coordination of the humanitarian.

logistics response and information management to support operational decision-making throughout the response cycle. Where gaps have been identified, the Logistics Cluster also facilitates access to common logistics services.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Logistics Cluster Information Management Officer, Information Management/GIS Assistant, will support the information needs of the logistics community through effective data management, analysis, visualization, and dissemination, enabling informed operational decision-making:

1. Draft and/or update Logistics Cluster information products, including situation reports, meeting

minutes, snapshots, infographics, operational overviews, presentations, Concept of Operations

(ConOps), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), in line with Logistics Cluster and WFP

standards and templates.

2. Produce high-quality maps, dashboards, and other GIS-based visual products to support data-

driven logistics planning and operational decision-making, in line with Logistics Cluster and WFP

standards and templates.

3. Draft and consolidate inputs on Logistics Cluster activities for WFP reporting products, OCHA

monthly reporting, and donor reports and proposals, as required.

4. Support the collection, analysis and dissemination of logistics-related information and data,

including the monitoring of key logistics indicators.

5. Maintain and regularly update logistics-related information on the LogIE GIS platform, including

physical access constraints, infrastructure status, logistics capacities, and seasonal constraints.

6. Identify appropriate methodologies to gather and map information for operational planning and

advocacy, including engagement with logistics partners.

7. Provide regular updates on logistics bottlenecks, access constraints, and supply chain

disruptions to relevant stakeholders.

8. Support the management and regular updating of the Logistics Cluster mailing list, partner

contact lists, supplier database, shared file repository, and website content, in coordination

with the Global Logistics Cluster IM team.

9. Maintain Logistics Cluster and WFP information management standards, including document

templates, assessment tools, and activity reporting formats.

10. Participate in the Information Management Working Group and other relevant coordination

fora, as necessary.

11. Support the development and/or translation of training and guidance materials and contribute

to capacity strengthening of partners on logistics information management and basic logistics

principles.

12. Engage with partners in Port Sudan and field locations to assess their information requirements

and provide support and basic training where appropriate.

13. Perform other tasks as required, including support of other units, as required.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

Logistics data and information are systematically collected, analyzed, and disseminated through timely and high-quality Logistics Cluster information products. Regularly updated information products are produced, including situation reports, maps, and dashboards to support operational planning and informed decision-making. Logistics-related geospatial data and layers, including access constraints and infrastructure status, are maintained and kept up-to-date through relevant tools, including LogIE.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education: Completion of secondary school education.

Experience: A minimum of six years of work experience in humanitarian sector, data analysis,

public relations or communications.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent written and analytical skills
  • Basic knowledge of logistics operations and humanitarian reform / cluster concept
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Windows, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and other related software
  • Knowledge and experience of Esri ArcGIS Desktop/Pro/Enterprise and/or other geospatial packages
  • Willingness to work in challenging environments / field locations.
  • Ability to multitask and to be able to work with minimum supervision post an induction period.
