ACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The Logistic Cluster in Sudan supports partners operating in the country by providing logistics coordination, information management, and common logistics services, including storage.

This position will support warehousing operations and contribute to the provision of storage services for partners through the logistics cluster warehouse in Port Sudan.

CCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the timely receipt, proper stacking, and accurate dispatch of partners' cargo, maintaining zero discrepancy in bundling and documentation.
  • Support implementation of appropriate measures to safeguard partner commodities, ensuring quality control through standard preventive measures in fine with established procedures and supervisor authorization.
  • Maintain timely and accurate records of all partners' cargo, safeguarding data integrity and enabling easy retrieval for reporting and audits
  • Perform regular inspections of warehouse stock to verify condition, quantity, and compliance with storage requirements.
  • Assist the Logistics Assistant and other colleagues in conducting periodic physical inventories of partners' cargo, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Maintain the warehouse in accordance with high warehousing standards, including cleanliness, safety, and security protocols.
  • Deliver high quality customer service to Logistics Cluster partners by responding promptly to requests and ensuring smooth cargo handling.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with WFP colleagues, private porters, and other stakeholders to facilitate efficient warehouse operations.
  • Supervise warehouse assistant storekeeper, checkers, guards, and porters, providing clear guidance and oversight during loading and offloading operations to ensure safety and accuracy
  • Ensure all warehouse documentation (receipts, dispatch notes, stock cards) is complete, accurate.  
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned by the supervisor.

STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.

Experience: At least four years of experience in related fields

Language:   Fluency in English and Arabic

DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE:

 •  Experience using logistics databases to extract routine reports.

•  Experience in managing warehouses with food and NFIs.

 •  Experience in managing inventories.

 •  Experience in processing invoices
