The WBG has recently established its first-ever in-country Resident Representation for EQG in the city of Malabo. This Country Office (CO) is headed by a WBG Resident Representative (RR) who covers four of the five institutions of the WBG. The RR is the Head of Office (HOO) and responsible for leading the WBG relationship with the Government of EQG.

Duties and Accountabilities 

Driver 

• Drive WBG staff to meetings and client sites, ensuring strict adherence to the WBG Road Safety and Security policies as well as the Country’s equivalent policies/regulations, especially in the case of accidents and/or emergencies.
• Maintain a daily logbook for the official vehicle assigned to the CO.
• Maintain the office vehicles (including ensuring that routine checks for tire pressure, engine oil, brake fluid, radiator coolant, fuel level, battery water level, etc. are carried out).
• Ensure insurance, registration and general service schedules are up to date.
• Ensure that the office vehicles are always clean, including the engine compartment.
• Ensure vehicle keys are appropriately maintained and securely stored.
• Ensure that the general wear and tear of the interior fittings of the vehicle are checked.
• Ensure that vehicles are always properly equipped with spare tires, tool kits, jacks, wheel spanners, tow ropes, jump leads, fan belts, fire extinguishers and first aid toolboxes.
• Ensure that the vehicle is fueled according to the WBG Policies and Procedures.

Messenger

• Collect and deliver official letters from and to the CO, invoices from vendors, and parcels of any kind, as needed.
• Keep an organized daily log of all communications/invoices/other paperwork, both in appropriate physical and digital folders.
• Prepare annual summaries of office-level communications to keep as the annual report log.
• Help put together the historic archive of key documents pertaining to the history between the Government of EQG and the WBG by:
i. Retrieving core communications, especially legal documents, from the WBG archives;
ii. Complete the physical folders of the last 15 years of operation of the office in Malabo, by filling out the gaps and restoring critical paperwork that is currently missing due to flood-related losses; and
iii. Digitalize all critical paperwork that may not be in the WBG archives to date and upload this information (official communications/invoices/other paperwork) into the WBG archives.
• Put together and keep up to date the organograms/structure of stakeholders with which the WBG EQG CO, including but not limited to: i) the WBG internal authorities and core teams; ii) the Government of EQG’s authorities and focal points for all core ministries and agencies with which we most work; iii) development partners (multilateral and bilateral); iv) private sector clients (current and potential); and v) civil society organizations, including but not limited to academia and non-governmental organizations (both local and international) operating in EQG.

Office Assistant

• Support the WBG Assistant to the Resident Representation (ARR) in day-to-day tasks, undertaking any of the administrative/logistical duties assigned by the ARR and/or any other administrative duties that may be assigned from time to time by the HOO.
• Be responsible for all office-related issues that require attention, including but not limited to: 
i. Office supplies –stationery, food, cleaning, etc.
ii. Office equipment – Information Technology (IT) supplies, furniture, etc.
• Prepare and keep up to date the full inventory of the office’s supplies and equipment

• Maintain a regular logbook of the office’s inventory, ensuring no gaps in critical supplies happen at any given time.

Selection Criteria

Preference will be given to local talent, that is, applicants that are authorized to work in the duty station for any employer. Internal applicants may apply per existing guidelines.

• Minimum of secondary school diploma or equivalent. Holding a tertiary education professional training is a plus.
• At least 5 years’ driving experience; defensive driving skills training will be an advantage and knowledge of UN system security procedures and familiarity with Very High Frequency (VHF) Radios is a plus.
• Holding a valid driver’s license; professional driver’s license and/or international driver’s license will be an asset.
• Fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) mandatory; fluency in French (spoken and written) is desirable.
• Good knowledge of the city of Malabo and other surrounding areas of the Bioko Island; knowledge of the continental part is desirable.
• Good driving record references.

As per WBG policy, an Extended Term (ET) appointment is subject to a lifetime maximum of three (3) years. Former and current ET staff who have completed or are in the process of completing their third-year ET appointment are not eligible for future ET appointments.
