The Digital Workplace Tech Solutions team enables staff across the institution to work productively, securely, and seamlessly by delivering integrated digital workplace products and services. The Infrastructure Delivery Product Team is specifically responsible for delivering and maintaining all IT infrastructure and connectivity services for WBG offices—including network rooms (NCRs), LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi connectivity, and Video Conference (VC) facilities.
Operating Environment ITSR1: East Asia & Pacific (EAP), South Asia (SAR) & Central Asia & Caucasus (CACR); ITSR2: Africa, Europe (ECA), Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, &Pakistan (MENAAP) ; ITSR3: Washington DC Headquarters and Latin America & Caribbean (LCR )Regional footprint across most country offices; HQ hub of ~100 staff; typical country offices staffed with 1–3 IT personnel.
Duties and accountabilities:
Role Overview
The Infrastructure Engineer (GF) focuses on Office IT Infrastructure and Project Management, owning the delivery of infrastructure changes and maintaining high-quality operations in Country Offices (COs). The role bridges global standards into practice through compliance reviews and corrective actions, interfacing extensively with links management and procurement to ensure timely, value-for-money sourcing.
Role Scope & Distinction:
• Infrastructure Lifecycle Lead: Owns end-to-end tasks for link provisioning, upgrades, migrations, and cancellations.
• Technical Design & Implementation: Designs and implements upgrades to CO IT facilities including power, cooling, racks, and structured cabling.
• Standards & Compliance: Applies infrastructure standards across COs, performing compliance reviews and remediating technical gaps.
• Vendor Strategy: Drives local vendor assessments and evaluations to introduce reliable and supportable solutions.
• Technical Operations Bridge: Analyzes regional link trends to identify chronic issues and coordinates remediation with ISPs and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities :
A. Network Infrastructure Design & Facility Upgrades
• Design and implement upgrades to CO IT facilities (power, cooling, racks, structured cabling, AV systems), producing layout drawings and implementation plans.
• Design LAN/WAN topologies and network segmentation to ensure secure and reliable office connectivity.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities within ITS, Security, and Applications teams to de-risk changes and ensure resilient outcomes.
• Produce operational SOPs, acceptance tests, and handover documentation, mentoring analysts on execution quality and safety.
B. Connectivity Operations & Performance Analysis
• Own operational monitoring of regional links (WAN/Internet); analyze trends, identify chronic issues, and coordinate remediation with ISPs and links management.
• Manage end-to-end tasks for link provisioning, upgrades, migrations, and cancellations; maintain schedules and stakeholder communications.
• Collaborate with the NOC on diagnostics and escalations to maintain link availability targets (>98%).
C. Procurement & Vendor Management
• Prepare procurement packages (specs, evaluation criteria) for links and infrastructure equipment; collaborate with GCS Procurement on solicitations.
• Lead vendor engagements in local markets to evaluate new infrastructure products; produce comparative assessments (fit, reliability, cost, support).
• Coordinate with Global Vendor Managers to ensure SLA compliance and escalate performance gaps.
D. AV/VC Participation in Implementation & Quality Assurance
• Apply infrastructure standards and methods across COs, performing regular compliance reviews and remediating gaps.
E. Agile Participation
• Participate in daily stand-ups and biweekly iteration planning to execute tasks prioritized in the single integrated product backlog.
• Update task progress in Azure DevOps (ADO) and manage operational incidents via ServiceNow.

• Offices Delivered On Time (aligned with Real Estate schedule): Target >90%
• Link Uptime (availability across active offices): Target >98%
• Vendor SLA Compliance (% meeting resolution SLAs): Target >90%
• VC Room Certification Rate (tested before Day 1): Target >95%
• Stakeholder Satisfaction Score (Feedback from COs / Real Estate): Target >8/10
• Iteration Commitment vs. Completion: Target >85%
Selection Criteria
• Master’s degree with 5 years of experience or Bachelor’s with 8+ years of relevant IT experience.
• Infrastructure Facility Design: Skilled in technical facility layouts (Power, Cooling, Racks) and upgrade planning.
• Network Link Analysis: Advanced ability to perform performance analysis and technical remediation for WAN/LAN topologies.
• Standards Application: Skilled in applying IT infrastructure standards and performing compliance auditing.
• Business Coordination: Skilled in procurement package development and vendor evaluation writing.
• Agile Proficiency: Skilled in backlog management using Azure DevOps and incident tracking in ServiceNow.
Preferred Certifications:
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA): Mandatory for network infrastructure and routing knowledge.
