Organizational Context
This final evaluation was developed in line with the continuation of the Morocco Earthquake Emergency Appeal activities into 2026 and complements the revised operational strategy published in November 2024. Following the earthquake that struck Morocco on 8 September 2023, severe destruction affected El Haouz, Marrakech, Chichaoua, Taroudant, Ouarzazate, and Azilal provinces. Remote mountain villages faced significant challenges due to damaged roads and difficult terrain, limiting access to emergency assistance. The disaster resulted in nearly 3,000 deaths, around 6,000 injuries, and close to 60,000 homes damaged or destroyed, alongside major impacts on schools, health facilities, and critical public infrastructure.
