About this position

We are looking for a candidate to provide administrative, analytical and operational support to the Portfolio Management Team. You will help us in the monitoring, analysis, reporting, and management of the investment portfolio, contributing to effective portfolio oversight, timely decision-making, and continuous improvement of our portfolio management processes.

You will work in the Venture Capital Investment (VCI) Division of IDB Lab, responsible for the monitoring and active management of the investment portfolio, which encompasses loans–including those related to Social Entrepreneurship Program (SEP)–, as well as direct equity investments and participations in investment funds. The team plays a critical role in ensuring portfolio performance, risk management, compliance with internal processes, and the availability of high-quality information to support operational and strategic decision-making throughout the life cycle of each operation.

What you’ll do

  • Portfolio Performance Oversight. Support monitoring and assessing portfolio operations across loans–including those related to SEP–, as well as funds and direct equity investments, with analysis at both asset and portfolio level. Contribute to the preparation of internal technical inputs and draft memoranda, as required, in accordance with applicable internal processes and procedures, including those established for SEP operations.
  • Administrative & Portfolio Operations Support: Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the Portfolio Management team to ensure smooth portfolio operations, timely documentation and effective coordination across the portfolio.
  • Financial & Operational Analysis. Review and synthesize financial statements, investor reports and operational information to support portfolio monitoring and summarize relevant insights for the team (e.g. confirm SEP borrowers’ compliance with financial covenants).
  • Transaction Support. Provide analytical and administrative support for portfolio transactions, including data preparation, financial analysis, and internal process coordination.
  • Portfolio Reporting & Stakeholder Coordination. Support in preparing reporting and presentations, ensuring data integrity and close coordination with investment, finance, legal, and risk teams, including collaboration on SEP-specific reporting requirements and portfolio-level summaries.

What you'll need

•    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Accounting, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.

•    Experience: At least 2 years of experience in, investment management, consulting, banking, private equity, venture capital, or portfolio management.

•    Languages:  Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

•    Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our .  Must be eligible to work in Mexico without the need for sponsorship. 

•    Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
 

Type of contract and duration

  National consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 48 months, subject to eligibility).
