The International Potato Center (CIP) is looking for one
(1) Data Management Intern to provide support to the Genebank Department and
work close with the Digital & Data Department in Lima, Peru.

Key responsibilities:
- Support the data preparation and quality assurance
required for ClP's transition from GRIN-Global to GGCE.
- Ensure CIP's genebank data meets the quality and
accessibility standards required by the Al71 Genebanks Al pipeline.
- Recover and integrate existing but uncaptured data
(field trial evaluations, genomic datasets, corporate database records) into
the genebank information system.
- Support
data cleaning, harmonization, and interoperability activities across genebank
and research datasets.
- Produce
documented, transferable work products that strengthen institutional data
management
Requirements
What are we looking for?
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree
in data engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- Strong SOL skills (ability to write queries against
relational databases, understand schema structures, and perform data
validation).
- Experience with Python or R for data manipulation and
scripting.
- Familiarity with data cleaning, transformation, and
ETL processes.
- Strong documentation habits and ability to work
methodically.
- Working proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Background or coursework in bioinformatics,
agricultural science, or biological databases.
- Experience with REST APls and JSON data
formats.(preferred)
- Familiarity with NoSQL or graph databases
(future-oriented skill for the role). (preferred)
- Experience with data
visualization tools (Power Bl, Python visualization libraries). (preferred).
