Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent: 1- Leads the socio-economic analysis for camp improvement planning and projects, including planning, managing, designing surveys, data compilation, and preparing reports. 2- Supervises consultants, as required and coordinate with project team, and community in conducting socio-economic surveys; ensure quality and timely deliverables; mobilize and train communities including youths and local institutions. 3- Analyzes and integrates socio-economic study findings with different thematic areas of the Camp Improvement Plan (CIP) and advise on planning and decision-making. 4- Coordinates and provide support in the development of GIS datasets to ensure mapping of socio-economic indicators during spatial analysis. 5- Coordinates with relevant UNRWA programmes/departments (Health, Education, Relief & Social Services) to acquire and analyze relevant data and share findings. 6- Reviews, revises and conducts assessments of socio-economic aspects of the Camp Improvement Planning including impact assessment, shelter assessment and post-occupancy assessments for implemented projects. 7- Provides support in complying with protection principles in camp improvement work and projects such as shelter rehabilitation and public spaces. 8- Provides technical support in conducting pre-feasibility and developing indicators for monitoring camp improvement projects and advising on risks and mitigation measures. 9- Performs tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications/special skills
1- A university degree in social studies, economic studies, statistics or related field from an accredited university/institution. 2- At least 4 years of experience in planning and implementing socio-economic projects. 3- Experience in analyzing large sets of socio-economic data utilizing statistical tools and software 4- Experience in participatory approaches and data collection.
Languages
Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.
Additional Information
Desirable Qualifications: 1- Advanced degree in development, management, planning, or policy 2- Knowledge of Palestine refugees camp and culture 3- Knowledge of GIS tools and spatial analysis. 4- Experience of working with UN Agencies or humanitarian agencies Competencies: 1- Analysis and applying technical expertise 2- Management and interpersonal skills 3- Creativity and initiative 4- Working with people 5- Drive for results 6- Ability to work in multicultural settings and under pressure.
