The Health Officer plays a key role in the implementation of the IRC’s emergency health response through close follow-up and monitoring of health activities.

The role includes regular field visits, close coordination with health actors, and proactive support to partners in resolving operational and technical challenges.

Major Responsibilities:

Programme Implementation & Field Follow-Up

 

  • Support the implementation and follow-up of emergency health activities in targeted areas.
  • Conduct regular field visits to PHCCs, collective shelters, and community-based activities.
  • Follow up on day-to-day implementation of partner-led and IRC-supported activities.
  • Support outreach activities, mobile services, and emergency response interventions.
  • Ensure health activities are implemented in line with IRC procedures, technical guidance, and MoPH protocols.
  • Support the organization and follow-up of awareness sessions and outreach activities.
  • Assist in identifying operational challenges and escalating issues to supervisors when needed.
  • Support referrals and follow-up of vulnerable cases to health and specialized services.

 

Monitoring, data collection and reporting

  • Monitor activities and support tracking of indicators, targets, and workplans.
  • Support verification and compilation of partners’ reports and activity data.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and timely documentation of activities and referrals.
  • Coordinate with MEAL and partners to ensure quality data collection and reporting.
  • Contribute to internal sitreps, updates, and activity reports as requested.

 

Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with PHCCs, local partners, municipalities, and community focal points to support implementation.
  • Maintain regular communication with partner focal points and field teams.
  • Support coordination between IRC departments including Health, Protection, Supply Chain, and MEAL.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and field coordination activities as requested.

Job Requirements:

  Work Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in health program implementation, preferably in emergency or humanitarian settings.
  • Experience working with NGOs and/or community-based health interventions
  • Experience in PHC, SRH, MHPSS, or outreach activities is an asset

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with communities and partners.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in rapidly changing environments.
  • Strong teamwork and coordination skills.
  • Basic reporting and data management skills.

Education:

 

Bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health or another relevant health-related field.

Language Skills: 

 

Excellent command of written and spoken English and Arabic are required.

 

 

Preferred experience & skills:

  • Previous experience in emergency response.
  • Familiarity with MoPH systems and PHCC settings.
  • Knowledge of community-based health programming and referral pathways.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to conduct frequent field visits and travel within operational areas.
