The Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action Programme of the Regional Office for Arab States works closely with United Nations, government, and civil society partners to increase the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325. UN Women has been working with governments, UN partners and civil society to support women’s participation and influence at all levels of decision making to prevent and resolve conflicts in the Arab region and to ensure gender inclusion in humanitarian action.
Reporting to the Regional Communication Specialist and in close coordination with the Regional Advisor on WPS/HA, the Communications Analyst (Visual and Graphic Design) contributes to the design and development of visual communication materials related to UN Women Regional Office for the Arab States, including the WPSHA portfolio. The Communications Analyst (Visual and Graphic Design) works in close collaboration with UN Women HQ and Country Offices of the Arab region, ensuring that all materials adhere to UN Women's corporate branding and style guidelines and contributing to a cohesive and integrated approach to communications.
Scope of Work:
Act as focal point for Visual communications within the thematic teams of the UN Women Regional Office for the Arab States, the country offices, and the HQ
- Maintain brand consistency and ensuring communications teams are adhering to visual communications guidelines in their work;
- Provide guidance to the country offices of the Arab region as well as to HQ on global products.
Provide substantive technical support to the implementation of the communications and advocacy initiatives/campaigns of the Regional Office for Arab States, including the WPS/HA team
- Lead the development of creative assets for campaigns, international days, and advocacy initiatives, adapting designs across multiple formats and platforms (printed and digital);
- Contribute to design and create layout knowledge and visibility products for UN Women studies, manuals, toolkits, policy briefs, booklets, newsletter, reports, leaflets, bulletins, flyers and infographics according to corporate branding and style guidelines;
- Design new, and update existing social media banners, cards, content etc. to reflect corporate branding and style guidelines.
Contribute to the visual content production for the WPS/HA Team and the Regional Office
- Provide substantive inputs to the conceptualizing and development of visual and branding identity for communications products of UN Women;
- Conceptualize and develop engaging, user-centered social media communication material and assets that capture attention, drive engagement, and boost visibility of the organization publications and events;
- Contribute to development of innovative design layouts and high-quality visuals/designs for publications, factsheets, policy briefs, and other promotional and informational material produced by the regional office;
- Design presentations, infographics, brochures, posters, reports and other communication materials as needed;
- Design and layout UN Women Regional Office reports and other publications, for digital and print purposes;
- Contribute to shooting and editing short in-house social media friendly videos for digital use where needed.
Contribute to integration and harmonization of communications efforts
- Work closely with the WPS Unit, the Regional Communications Team, and other relevant units, to develop consistent messaging and a unified visual identity on communications material developed by the WPS/HA team and the Regional Office;
- Adapt global visual assets for multicultural contexts and ensure consistency across languages;
- Ensure brand compliance and production quality with external graphic designers or vendors and provide guidance as required;
- Contribute to improvement of internal document management systems and/or knowledge repositories, as required.

Required Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in graphic design, communications, public relations, journalism or relevant field is required;
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
- At least 2 years of professional work experience at the national or international level in graphic design, communications, media operations, and/or advocacy material via various media (i.e. print, video, websites) is required;
- Experience in social media friendly video production from conceptualization to publication on digital channels is required;
- Experience in developing media-facing visual assets and press/event visibility materials is required;
- Experience in graphic design, video editing and relevant softwares, such as: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Media Encoder, Canva, Creative Suite and the rest of the Adobe Creative Suite is required;
- Experience in graphic production from conceptualization to published/printed product with knowledge of printing processes is required;
- Experience working with international organisations or UN system, and familiarity with UN branding guidelines is desirable;
- Experience working with AI-assisted design tools, used ethically and in line with organizational guidance, is desirable;
- Experience in gender equality, women peace, security, and humanitarian affairs is desirable.
Languages:
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
