About the Role

The internship provides hands‑on experience within the Department of Environmental and Social Sustainability (DES), supporting the implementation of Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) in development finance. The role offers exposure to international E&S standards, project assessment, reporting processes, and the coordination of sector events. It is well‑suited for a motivated candidate interested in sustainable development, responsible investment, and practical E&S management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply Environmental & Social Due Diligence (ESDD) principles, practices, and international standards while supporting the team’s work.
  • Assist with basic ESDD tasks, including reviewing project documents and conducting background checks on new projects and borrowers.
  • Support the review of Annual Environmental & Social Reports and help improve reporting templates.
  • Contribute to preparations for the EDFI Working Group Meeting on E&S in 2026.
  • Provide day‑to‑day administrative and operational support to the DES team.
  • Assist with additional tasks as needed to support ongoing departmental activities.

Applicants should:

  • Be students or hold a degree in life and social sciences, biology, chemistry, economics, sustainability.
  • Have an excellent command of the English language.
  • Possess strong MS Office skills.
