The Bank for International Settlements, BIS is hiring a Lead Media Relations and Public Relations within the Financial Stability Board.
This role is based in Basel, however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.
This job is available as three years fixed-term.

Purpose of the job:
To coordinate all media and PR efforts for the FSB globally, “owning” the proactive and reactive narratives of the organisation. Develops and implements the strategic media relations programmes and campaigns designed to strengthen the reputation of the FSB through high quality media coverage. Oversees the English editing and integrates editing into communication campaigns.
Works in partnership with FSB leadership to set strategic communication objectives and design external public relations campaigns. Uses extensive knowledge of the global stakeholder and media environment to increase the effectiveness and impact of FSB communications.
Coaches, advises and supports FSB leaders and experts for media engagement.

Principal accountabilities:
Manages the work products of the FSB’s communications specialists.
Work closely with FSB leadership to develop communications to support the FSB’s strategic priorities and increase the global reach of the communications.
Draw on an understanding of media and stakeholder insights and relationships to develop strategic notes, message toolkits and engaging content in key areas of stakeholder interest and advise business areas on appropriate strategies.
Support leaders’ understanding and articulation of the FSB perspective. Support the development of key communications by assuring a high-quality editing service.
Lead the response to issues which could affect the FSB’s reputation.
Creates impactful content to support the FSB’s media outreach and public relations activities, ranging from speechwriting to multimedia and social media.
Experience managing internal communications is an advantage.
Qualifications, skills, and experience:
University degree in a relevant field, such as communications or journalism, or equivalent work experience.
Experienced leader in corporate communications and financial journalism.
Experience of managing media relations and communication professionals in a dynamic stakeholder-driven environment.
Experience of working in international organisations or central banks would be an advantage, together with a knowledge of economics and financial markets topics of interest to central banks.
Excellent command of spoken and written English. Outstanding drafting and editing skills.
Open and responsive leader with highly developed interpersonal skills across the communication mix.
Outstanding planning and project management skills, including the ability to work flexibly and with precision to tight deadlines across different time zones.
