The International Potato Center (CIP) is looking for an
Accounting Specialist for the Finance Department.

About the position: This position plays a key role in ensuring the
accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information by overseeing key
accounting processes, supporting the monthly and annual closing cycles, and
strengthening internal controls. Act as a key point of coordination with the
accounting outsourcing provider and internal stakeholders to ensure
high-quality financial reporting and compliance with applicable standards and
policies.

Key responsibilities:

·Oversee and ensure the timely and accurate execution of
the monthly and year-end closing processes across all entities and regions.

·Coordinate and supervise the accounting outsourcing
provider, including review and validation of journal entries, reconciliations,
and deliverables.

·Review and analyze General Ledger accounts, ensuring
accuracy, proper classification, and consistency with supporting documentation,
making sure compliance with IFRS and internal policies.

·Perform and supervise balance sheet reconciliations,
ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items.

·Monitor payroll-related accounting processes (HQ and
Regions), including validation of postings, provisions, and related
liabilities.

·Ensure proper accounting of staff-related transactions,
including timesheet postings, advances, loans, and provisions.

·Identify, propose, and implement accounting
adjustments, reclassifications, and write-offs when required.

·Provide support during internal and external audits,
including preparation of schedules, analysis, and documentation.

·Coordinate with internal teams (HR, Treasury, Projects)
to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information.

·Propose and implement improvements in accounting
processes, controls, and documentation practices.

·Comply with applicable CIP health, safety,
safeguarding, and administrative policies and procedures.

Requirements

What are we looking for?

·Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with diploma or
specialization in finance topic

·At least 6 years of professional experience in
accounting preferably in a non-profit environment.

·Proficiency in MS Office, especially in Excel.

·Accounting software packages (ERP Preferable)

·Excellent written and oral communication skills in
English and Spanish.

·Experience or strong technical knowledge in areas such
as not-for-profit accounting, IFRS application, budget development and
management, financial analysis, auditing, and taxation will be highly valued.
