1. SUMMARY


The Defence Industry, Innovation and Armaments Division (D2IA) leads on the rapid development and delivery of cutting-edge and interoperable defence capabilities, working with innovation ecosystems and industry across the Alliance to meet NATO’s deterrence and defence needs.
The Data Coordinator will support all Air Section’s activities ensuring an efficient handling of a wide range of support duties of an administrative and organisational nature. In particular, the incumbent will assist the Section’s Head in the execution of the administrative matters of the Aviation Committee and airworthiness tasks with the direct responsibility for population, maintenance, and refinement of an airworthiness database.

2. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE


The incumbent must: 
• possess higher secondary education qualification with 6 years post-related experience, OR upper vocational training/ post-secondary degree in a discipline relevant for this position with 3 years post-related experience of administrative or organisational work;
• have in-depth knowledge of office management and information technology systems, software applications and packages, in particular the Microsoft Office suite, Share Point or similar;
• possess the following minimum levels of NATO’s official languages (English/French): V (“Advanced”) in one; I (“Beginner”) in the other.

The following would be considered an advantage:
• experience in managing systems engineering processes;
• experience in aviation related industry.

3. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

Knowledge Management: Maintain relevant information required for various tasks and projects. Assist with the administration and organisational work for the Aviation Committee and its substructures.

Expertise Development: Respond to questions related to airworthiness data and records. Implement, maintain and validate the relevant airworthiness data and establish dashboards to support the work of the section. Proactively develop skills in areas such as planning, organising, and the use of new technology.

Project Management: Contribute to the development and implementation of processes and procedures for the collective recognition and oversight of airworthiness authorities of NATO Nations and Partners, in execution of the provisions of the NATO airworthiness policy. Contribute to projects within the section, as requested.
Perform any other related duty as assigned.

Reporting Line: The incumbent reports to the Section Head. 
Interactions: The incumbent maintains close working relationships with other staff across the Directorate, NATO Divisions, national delegations and international organisations as required.

6. CONTRACT
Contract to be offered to the successful applicant (if non-seconded): Definite duration contract of three years’ duration; possibility of an indefinite duration contract thereafter.

Contract clause applicable:
In accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations, the successful candidate will receive a definite duration contract of three years, which may be followed by an indefinite duration contract.

If the successful applicant is seconded from the national administration of one of NATO’s member States, a 3-year definite duration contract will be offered, which may be renewed for a further period of up to 3 years subject to the agreement of the national authority concerned. The maximum period of service in the post as a seconded staff member is six years.

Serving staff will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations.

NOTE: Irrespective of previous qualifications and experience, candidates for twin-graded posts will be appointed at the lower grade. Advancement to the higher grade is not automatic, and will not normally take place during the first three years of service in the post.

Under specific circumstances, serving staff members may be appointed directly to the higher grade, and a period of three years might be reduced by up to twenty four months for external candidates.  These circumstances are described in the IS directive on twin-graded posts.
