Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Peacebuilding Assistant for our operation Assosa Field Office.

Overall purpose of the role:
The Peacebuilding Assistant will support the implementation of peacebuilding activities, including conflict prevention and resolution, community engagement, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at promoting peace and reconciliation. The role will assist the Peacebuilding Officer in facilitating dialogue, organizing workshops, and supporting community-led peacebuilding efforts.
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Assist the Peacebuilding Officer in implementing peacebuilding project activities at the community level.
- Support in Establishing peace building committees, organizing workshops, Inclusive dialogue forums, and training sessions for peace committees and community stakeholders.
- Contribute to participatory conflict and conflict sensitivity analyses through community consultations.
- Maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, including community leaders, local authorities, and other partners.
- Provide logistical and administrative support for project activities, including organizing meetings and preparing materials.
- Assist in the establishment and capacity-building of peacebuilding committees, including women and youth, IDPs/returnees/host community representatives.
- Ensure proper filing and record-keeping of all project-related documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Peacebuilding Officer.

Experience and technical competencies:
- BSc or LLB degree in Law, Peace Studies, Conflict Management, Social Studies, or related fields.
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience in conflict and peacebuilding
- Strong knowledge and experience of working in conflict-prone and insecure areas
- Intermediate knowledge in written and spoken English, with fluency in local languages is strongly desirable.
- Strong coordination, representation, and interpersonal skills, along with basic skills of computer literacy.
Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)
- BSc or LLB degree in Law, Peace Studies, Conflict Management, Social Studies, or related fields.
Languages: (indicate fluency level)
- Intermediate knowledge in written and spoken English, with fluency in local languages is strongly desirable.
