Job Highlight

The retainer will provide specialist configuration support for Talent+, working at the intersection of HR operations, IT, and system administration to ensure the ATS is responsive to changing organizational needs.
Note: In the UNOPS context, a Retainer refers to a flexible, on-call workforce arrangement used to engage experts for short-term, intermittent, or ad-hoc tasks.

Job Specific Context

UNOPS implemented a new recruitment and onboarding system (Talent+) powered by Avature, which serves as the primary Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and onboarding for managing talent acquisition processes across the organization. As the system continues to evolve in line with operational needs and HR policy, ongoing configuration support is required to ensure the platform remains aligned with stakeholder requirements.

Role Purpose

Under the supervision of the Solutions Designer, the retainer will provide flexible, on-demand support for configuration changes and system adjustments within the Talent+ recruitment platform. The role requires the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders, interpret operational requirements, and translate them into system configuration actions ranging from straightforward updates to more complex multi-step adjustments.

Functions / Key Results Expected

1. Stakeholder Engagement and Requirements Gathering

  • Engage with People and Culture Group (PCG) stakeholders to understand configuration needs and system change requests.
  • Facilitate structured conversations to clarify requirements, assess scope, and identify dependencies before implementation.
  • Document requirements clearly and maintain a shared record of requested and completed changes.

2. System Configuration and Technical Implementation

  • Work closely with IT colleagues to implement configuration changes within Talent+ (Avature ATS and Onboarding) as per agreed requirements.
  • Support both routine, low-complexity adjustments (e.g., field updates, workflow modifications, template changes) and more complex configuration tasks requiring analysis and coordination.
  • Test configuration changes prior to deployment and flag issues or risks to the relevant focal point.

3. Coordination and Communication

  • Serve as a technical liaison between PCG stakeholders and IT during configuration processes.
  • Provide timely updates on the status of ongoing changes and communicate any blockers or risks.
  • Escalate issues requiring higher-level decision-making as appropriate.

4. Documentation and Quality Assurance

  • Maintain clear documentation of system configurations, changes made, and rationale.
  • Support quality checks to ensure configurations meet stated requirements and do not introduce unintended system behavior.
