- Fluency in English is Required with French and or Portuguese desirable.
Internship Objective
The objective of this internship is to augment RHD staff with qualified young professionals in specific high demand sectors such as Agriculture. Also to expose these qualified young professionals to the agricultural business landscape, focusing on sustainable development and innovation in Agriculture and Rural Agribusiness practices. The internship program is designed to enhance the interns' understanding of Agriculture and Agri-business challenges and opportunities, equip them with practical skills in research and analysis, and foster innovative thinking towards sustainable agricultural development.
Expected Outcomes
- In-depth understanding of the agriculture and rural agri-business ecosystem and its challenges and opportunities focused primarily in the West Africa Sub-Region.
- Practical experience in conducting research, data analysis, and developing business solutions.
- Proposals for innovative and sustainable agri-business models that can be implemented within but not limited to the following projects:

- Regional Rice Value Chain Development Projects
- EWASME - Empowering West African Women Entrepreneurs
- Cattle & Livestock Development Projects
- Other Agriculture Projects at Regional Hub Dakar
Enhanced skills in teamwork, communication, and project management.
Responsibilities of Interns
- Actively participate in all project activities, training sessions, etc.
- Maintain professionalism and ethical conduct during meetings and interactions with project stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and contributes to the collective analysis and report writing process.
- Follow all guidelines and safety protocols established by the IsDB.
Supervision and Support
- Interns will be supervised by the Country Operations Manager and respective Operations Team Leader, who will provide ongoing guidance, support, and feedback throughout the internship.
- This ToR establishes a framework for a structured and impactful internship program aimed at fostering innovation and sustainable development in rural agriculture and agri-business.
- Through hands-on project implementation conducted by the Project PMU and overseen by IsDB, The interns will gain valuable skills and insights that will benefit their academic and professional growth in the field of Agriculture and agri-business development.
