The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a dynamic and
creative Consultant (Knowledge Product & Outreach)For its project office based in Karnal, Haryana.

About the position: The
International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a motivated and qualified Consultant
(Knowledge Products and Outreach) to support the implementation of the FAO
Afghanistan Climate Resilient Agriculture Program. The consultant will
contribute to the development of high-quality knowledge products, technical
communication materials, and outreach activities aimed at strengthening
climate-resilient agricultural systems and enhancing the technical capacities
of project partners and stakeholders.

The consultant will
work closely with CIP scientists, project teams, technical experts, and partner
organizations to develop outreach materials and support capacity-building and
communication initiatives.

Key
responsibilities:

Knowledge
Product Development

The consultant
will be responsible for developing and coordinating the following knowledge and
outreach products:

  • Develop comprehensive and
    user-friendly training manuals covering key agricultural practices, crop
    management techniques, climate-resilient technologies, and best practices
    for farmers, extension personnel, and project partners.

  • Develop, review, and coordinate
    the production of brochure packages, extension materials, factsheets, and
    communication products highlighting critical messages related to crop
    production, pest and disease management, climate-smart agriculture, and
    post-harvest management.

  • Prepare and contribute to
    technical reports, periodic project reports, technical briefs, success
    stories, case studies, and communication materials.

  • Review and validate technical
    content to ensure scientific accuracy, consistency, and alignment with
    current research findings and field-level applicability.

  • Develop crop-specific advisories,
    extension messages, and knowledge dissemination materials suitable for
    diverse stakeholder groups.

Capacity
Building, Stakeholder Engagement, and Project Support

  • Support the planning,
    organization, and delivery of virtual and in-person training programs for
    project partners, extension workers, project stakeholders, and farmers.

  • Assist in the development of
    training curricula, learning resources, presentations, and evaluation
    tools to support capacity-building activities.

  • Coordinate with technical experts,
    resource persons, and partner organizations to ensure effective
    implementation of capacity-building activities and knowledge dissemination
    efforts.

  • Support workshops, exposure
    visits, stakeholder consultations, learning events, and other outreach
    activities under the project.

  • Collaborate with project teams,
    subject matter specialists, and field staff to ensure the relevance,
    quality, and technical accuracy of knowledge products and training
    materials.

  • Facilitate communication,
    networking, and knowledge sharing among project stakeholders and partners.

  • Support documentation of project
    activities, lessons learned, success stories, and best practices for wider
    dissemination.

  • Assist in monitoring, reporting,
    and other project-related activities as assigned by the project leadership
    to support successful project implementation.

Requirements

What are we looking
for?

Educational
Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences,
    Candidate holding a Ph.D. degree in Agricultural Sciences or a related field
    will be preferred.

  • For candidates with a PhD in Agricultural
    Sciences or a related discipline: Minimum one (1) year of relevant professional
    experience in the agriculture sector, For candidates with a master’s degree:
    Minimum five (5) years of relevant professional experience in the agriculture
    sector.

  • Experience working with international
    organizations, CGIAR Centers, UN agencies, ICAR institutes, State Government
    Departments, Agricultural Universities, or research and development programs.

  • Experience in climate-resilient agriculture,
    Potato cultivation, agricultural extension, capacity building, and knowledge
    management will be an advantage.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing training
    manuals, technical guides, brochures, extension materials, and agricultural
    knowledge products.

  • Sound understanding of crop production systems,
    crop calendar, climate-resilient agriculture, and agricultural extension
    approaches.

  • Experience in developing crop advisories,
    extension messages, and technical communication materials.

  • Experience organizing and facilitating training
    programs, workshops, and capacity-building activities for farmers, extension
    personnel, and development partners.

  • Strong technical writing, editing, and
    communication skills with the ability to translate scientific information into
    practical and user-friendly formats.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple
    assignments, and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality outputs.

Technical Skills

  • Strong technical writing and
    editing skills for preparing reports, training manuals, extension
    publications, brochures, and other knowledge products.

  • Experience in developing and
    disseminating customized agro-advisories, crop production recommendations,
    and climate-resilient agriculture messages.

  • Familiarity with digital and
    conventional extension and outreach tools for knowledge dissemination and
    stakeholder engagement.

  • Ability to develop training and
    extension materials using participatory and learning approaches.

  • Proficiency in synthesizing
    scientific information into practical, user-friendly content for farmers,
    extension workers, and project stakeholders.

  • Good publication, formatting, and
    communication skills, including coordination with designers and
    communication specialists.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
    Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and virtual collaboration platforms.
