REPORTING LINES

The Tech Team Intern will report directly to the IG Tech Team Manager and will work closely with the Developer and other members of the Tech Team on recurring operational activities, reporting follow-up, documentation, coordination tasks, and platform support activities.

PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

WFP is committed to growing private sector fundraising with a focus on individual giving. It is recognized as a fundraising channel that has been successfully used by other UN agencies for whom it generates the bulk of their private sector income. In addition, individual giving can provide a high proportion of unrestricted income which is critical to supporting the long-term goals of country strategic plans (CSPs). The Private Partnerships & Fundraising Division (PPF) is committed to fostering individual giving as a significant strategy for growth.

The Tech Team Intern will provide flexible operational and technical support to the IG Tech Team within the Private Partnerships & Fundraising Division (PPF).

The role combines:

  • Operational coordination and reporting support

  • Hands-on involvement in systems, testing, and data validation

  • Contribution to platform-related processes across fundraising technologies
     

The intern will work across multiple platforms (Salesforce, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Asana) supporting day-to-day operations, system-related processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role is designed for candidates interested in gaining exposure to the intersection of technology, fundraising operations, and data processes in an international environment.

ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Operational & Coordination Support

  • Support recurring operational processes across the Tech Team, including task tracking and follow-up activities

  • Assist in coordinating activities across teams and platforms, ensuring alignment and timely execution

  • Contribute to preparation of operational updates, summaries, and status tracking

2. Systems & Platform Support

  • Provide support across key platforms (Salesforce, SharePoint, Asana, Microsoft 365)

  • Assist with data validation, uploads, and basic system checks

  • Support ongoing platform-related activities linked to fundraising operations

3. Testing & Process Validation

  • Participate in testing activities for platform updates, new features, and process improvements

  • Document bugs, inconsistencies, or issues identified during testing

  • Support validation of system outputs, reports, and data processes

4. Data & Reporting Support

  • Assist with maintaining reporting trackers and validating recurring reports

  • Monitor data flows and flag inconsistencies, delays, or anomalies for follow-up

  • Support preparation of structured reporting outputs and operational summaries

5. Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Maintain and improve internal documentation, process guides, and operational materials

  • Support organization of SharePoint and documentation repositories

  • Contribute to onboarding and knowledge-sharing resources for the team

6. Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, task coordination, and system usage

  • Support implementation of improved practices in tracking, reporting, and operational processes

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT

By the end of the assignment, the intern will have:

  • Developed a practical understanding of tech-enabled fundraising operations

  • Contributed to system testing, validation, and platform-related processes

  • Supported data integrity and reporting accuracy across recurring operations

  • Demonstrated ability to work across technical and operational tasks simultaneously

  • Contributed to well-structured documentation and knowledge-sharing resources

  • Gained exposure to Salesforce-based processes (including data uploads / Data Loader)

  • Actively supported process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education

University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems, or related discipline.

Experience and hard skills

  • Previous internship, and/or working experience in operational, administrative, or technical support activities would be an advantage.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.

  • Basic understanding of operational platforms and collaboration tools such as Salesforce and Asana.

  • Good organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to follow recurring operational processes and maintain accurate records and reporting trackers.

  • Basic understanding of data handling, reporting activities, and operational follow-up processes.

  • Ability to support testing, validation, and coordination activities across different operational tasks.

  • Comfortable working across multiple tasks and platforms within a fast-paced operational environment.

  • Good communication, organizational, and coordination skills.

  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.

  • Motivated, adaptable, and willing to learn new processes and systems.
