About this position
The Corporate Procurement Group, part of the Budget and Administrative Services Department (BDA), provides procurement and contracting services to IDB Group departments at Headquarters and Country Offices. The team supports internal clients by applying institutional procurement policies and procedures to deliver timely, transparent, and value-for-money acquisitions, and by helping incorporate sustainable procurement considerations into the procurement of goods, services and Consulting Services as applicable.
The Corporate Procurement Group is seeking a Corporate Procurement and Sustainability Consultant (CNS) to support corporate procurement processes for goods, services and Consulting Services for the IDB Group at Headquarters and as needed, in Country Offices. The consultant will contribute to ensuring efficient, transparent, and value-for-money procurements in compliance with applicable policies, guidelines, and procedures, while supporting the integration of sustainable procurement practices (including, when applicable, social and environmental requirements) into corporate acquisitions.
What you’ll do
- Lead the integration of sustainable procurement considerations (environmental, social and governance criteria and performance metrics) into requests for proposals, evaluations, contract drafting, negotiation, administration, and lifecycle or whole-of-life value-for-money assessments, as applicable, into end-to-end procurement processes for goods, services, and Consulting Services.
- Conduct and validate supplier market research and analysis, incorporating cost and non-cost factors such as environmental performance, supplier sustainability standards, and risk considerations—including climate, environmental, reputational, and supplier transition risks—to support sound procurement decisions and mitigation measures.
- Engage with suppliers on their GHG emissions transparency, reporting quality, and decarbonization performance, and encourage alignment with recognized frameworks (e.g., Science-Based Targets initiative, CDP).
- Coordinate the collection, validation, analysis of supplier sustainability information and evidence, including Scope 3 data, on purchased goods and services, in line with the Bank’s selected methodology (e.g., spend-based NAICS/EEIO mapping, and/or supplier-specific emissions data), in close coordination with the Corporate Sustainability team within the Administrative Services Division (ACP).
- Support contract administration and continuous improvement by monitoring deliverables, ensuring compliance with contractual terms, maintaining auditable procurement files, and promoting the effective use of procurement tools, systems, and sustainability practices relevant to international organizations.
- Coordinate with internal clients (Bank's departments) to clarify requirements, timelines, and procurement steps, ensuring clear communication and service orientation. Stay informed of procurement tools, systems, and good practices on sustainability aspects relevant to international organizations.
What you'll need
Education: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Procurement, Finance, Law, Economics, Project Management, Sustainability or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience in procurement, sustainable procurement, contract management, sourcing, corporate services, or related areas.
- Experience applying sustainable procurement practices, such as incorporating social and environmental requirements into specifications, evaluation criteria, contractual clauses, and supporting the use of supplier sustainability standards/certifications and/or lifecycle cost considerations.
- Experience supporting/managing procurement processes and preparing or reviewing requests for proposals and contractual documentation.
- Experience with procurement systems or analytics.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French or Portuguese is preferable.

Type of contract and duration
International consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 48 months, subject to eligibility).
