BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies, and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.
Under the direct supervision of Regional Monitoring Advisor, the incumbent will be provided with close mentoring, guidance, and technical supervision. Performance planning and reviews as well as learning and development discussions will be elemental part of the supervision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Regional office mandate 
Support the Country Offices in applying the monitoring requirements and fulfil the donors’ requirements. Thus, the projects which the intern is going to work on it. It is related to integrating the monitoring data and reporting through analysis and dashboard. 
    Migration to the new data management system IM-Ecosystem
    Regional trend analysis monitoring dashboard
    Follow-up on the data submission on COMET
    Conduct analysis and interpretation of the COs monitoring data that responds to the needs.
    Ensure key findings from monitoring exercises are collected, consolidated, and communicated
    Support developing country specific dashboards for their monitoring data 
    Conduct regular data quality checks at different stages of the monitoring cycle, ensuring that monitoring data and reports are timely, complete and of high quality.
    Coordinate the cleaning and adjustment of the Monitoring Regional Library.
    AOB relates to the monitoring function and according to the needs that arise.

Deliverables
1.    Dashboards: Design and publish at least three (3) monitoring dashboards (outcomes/outputs) for three different projects/COs, including documentation (data dictionary + user guide).
2.    Regional Trend Analysis Dashboard: Contribute to the completion of the regional dashboard (add a view by programmatic area in addition to the one already there- Compendium category) under supervision of the visualization officer.
3.    Data Archiving: Archive and catalogue monitoring datasets and related documentation for Tunisia, Moldova, and Libya (closing offices), with a clear directory structure, metadata sheet, and access links.
4.    Data Quality Checks: Implement a DQC checklist and run two cycles of checks on selected datasets, reporting on error rates and corrections.
5.    Clean and standardize the Monitoring Regional Achieving/filing, provide a 1‑page user guide


STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

    Be a Master's student or a graduate Currently enrolled with in a graduate programme and have attended classes in the past 12 months, or a recent graduate from a graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme). Preferred areas of study are: Public and Social Policy, Development Studies, International Relations, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Public Policy, from a recognized university;
    Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C). Working knowledge of another official UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian plus Portuguese) is an asset. 
    Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
    Tableau, desirable

TRAINING COMPONENTS

Throughout the assignment, selected candidates have access to an industry leading learning platform, weLearn.  Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.

LEARNING ELEMENTS

At the end of the assignment, The selected candidate should:

    Have a greater understanding of the World Food Programme’s work and its role within the wider humanitarian system.
    Have a general understanding of WFP overall operations and activities in the region, as well prioritized agendas of the duty station 
    Developed capacity on Corporate Results Framework, Statistical and sampling methods used, dissemination of monitoring data collected in WFP and understanding of Corporate Guidance and Processes in terms of Monitoring in WFP.
    Further strengthened in Data visualization skills.

TYPE OF ASSIGNMENT

This opportunity is particularly well-suited for students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in an international organization. It offers valuable exposure to WFP’s operations and the chance to contribute meaningfully to its mission.

The selected candidate will receive IT equipment and training material; however, financial compensation and medical coverage are not provided by WFP. Applicants may seek alternative funding opportunities, such as university grants or external scholarships, to support their assignment.
