The Associate Finance Officer - Audit and Verification reports to the Audit and Verification Specialist - P4.

Responsibilities

- Supports the supervisor in the coordination of the UN Board of Auditors (UNBoA) interim and final audit and EU expenditure verifications, which includes, engagement with departments and fields, preparation of plans for entrance and exit meetings; communication of audit request and queries which includes collecting, interpreting and dissemination of audit requests, observation and recommendations; develops a tracking mechanism to capture audit queries and responses from departments and fields; supports in review, consolidation and submission of audit queries and responses from departments and fields. - Coordinates necessary logistics (travel, internet, security access cards, intercom, emails set-up, booking of meeting rooms, share point set-up, etc.) to support the conduct of the UNBoA audit and EU expenditure verifications; provides audit and verifications progress updates on a regular basis; coordinates orientations and trainings between departments and auditors; coordinates the kick-off and exit meetings of audit and verifications. - Prepares list and summary of outstanding audit recommendations including prior years; coordinates responses from departments and fields and assists in drafting responses to queries for final submission; provides reporting status of outstanding audit recommendations on periodic basis. - Maintains an up to date list of departmental and fields audit focal points; maintains up to date filing and cross referencing of all audit related matters in a web-based management systems (SharePoint); organises audit meetings between departments and auditors; coordinates audit physical verifications field visits; prepares PowerPoint presentations on audit and verifications. - Supports colleagues in Finance Functions which includes review, analysis and reconciling financial transactions and balances to ensure compliance with donor agreements and IPSAS; back up for colleagues, etc. - Supports supervisor in coordinating other quality assurance activities which include, presentations to staff and management on lessons leant from audit and verifications, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Statement of Internal Controls (SIC).

Work Experience

A minimum of four years of relevant experience in finance or audit department of a governmental, international, or large commercial organization with emphasis on auditing, finance, accounting, budgeting, accounting and financial management related work with computer based financial systems is required. A university degree from an accredited educational institution in accountancy, finance, audit, business administration or related discipline is required. Experience in audit or finance office in the UN common system is desirable. Partly qualified or membership in a professional body of accountants (e.g. Institute of Chartered Accountants, Institute of Certified Public Accountants) is desirable. Working experience with either IPSAS or IFRS is desirable. Indicate your current involvement in any outside activities, as it is required. Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment for 1 year, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need. Grade and Salary: Grade 14 Monthly basic salary JD 919.80.The salary may be subject to a reduced work schedule.
