POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Deputy Executive Director and Head of the Directorate of Green Finance & Corporate Services (DED-GFCS) provides executive leadership over GGGI’s sustainable finance and corporate services functions. As a member of the Management Team, the DED-GFCS drives institutional performance, financial sustainability, operational excellence, and organizational effectiveness, while positioning GGGI as a trusted partner in climate and development finance.

PURPOSE

The Directorate comprises two pillars: sustainable finance, including the Department of Development Finance and the Carbon Finance Department; and corporate services, including the Department of Finance and Corporate Services.

  • Align Directorate priorities and resources with GGGI’s Strategy 2030, Strategic Directions, and Corporate Results Framework.
  • Shape organizational strategy, managing institutional risks, and ensuring GGGI remains a credible, trusted, and high-performing international organization.
  • Lead GGGI’s sustainable finance agenda, including development finance, climate finance, carbon finance, capital markets, and innovative financing mechanisms ensuring delivery of results, growth of partnerships, and mobilization of financial resources.
  • Ensure the financial health, fiduciary integrity, and operational effectiveness of the organization through sound financial management, budgeting, legal oversight, corporate services, and risk management.
  • Chair the iGROW Committee and lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness, governance, and institutional performance.

ENGAGEMENT

  • Advise the Executive Director and Management Team on matters related to sustainable finance, institutional performance, financial sustainability, corporate services, and emerging organizational risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with the Executive Director’s Office and the Directorate of Green Growth Implementation to ensure alignment between institutional priorities, resource allocation, and program delivery.
  • Engage with the Council, Advisory Committee, and other governance bodies on Directorate priorities, performance, and matters related to GGGI’s financial and institutional position.
  • Provide leadership and direction to senior managers within the Directorate and foster effective collaboration across organizational units and Directorates.
  • Engage with donor governments, development partners, and strategic stakeholders to advance GGGI’s sustainable finance agenda, partnerships, resource mobilization efforts, and organizational visibility.
  • Engage with host state representatives on headquarters arrangements, privileges and immunities, and other institutional matters.
  • Represent GGGI in high-level forums, conferences, and international dialogues related to sustainable finance, development finance, organizational management, and institutional governance.

DELIVERY

  • Provide executive oversight and strategic direction to the departments and units within the Directorate.
  • Builds, manages, and motivates GGGI talent in particular GFCS leadership cadre to implement GGGI's programs and corporate services effectively and promotes the advancement of merit based and inclusive workplace.
  •  Works with the Management Team to create and maintain an organizational culture of innovation and continuous learning which understands and recognizes the intrinsic value in the diversity of GGGI staff
  • Drive Directorate-wide work planning, performance monitoring, and results-based management, ensuring accountability and quality across all departments.
  • Oversee the implementation of GGGI’s sustainable finance portfolio, including development finance, climate finance, carbon finance, capital markets, and innovative financing mechanisms, ensuring achievement of institutional objectives and targets.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of GGGI-wide corporate strategies, ensuring the Directorate's alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Ensure GGGI's corporate service functions operate with the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity ensuring compliance with institutional frameworks and international standards.
  • Oversee and lead the biennial Work Program and Budget and annual Operating Budget processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to the Executive Director and  Council.
  • Lead and implement any other key organizational initiatives and work as deemed necessary by the Executive Director. 

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree required  in international development, development finance, economics, or other relevant green growth-related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience  combining intellectual and managerial leadership with demonstrated track record at executive or senior leadership level in a multilateral, intergovernmental, or major international organization
  • Demonstrated leadership in sustainable finance, development finance, climate finance, carbon finance, capital markets, or other innovative financing mechanisms, with a proven track record of mobilizing significant public and private investment for sustainable development objectives.
  • Substantial experience in successfully managing a decentralized and matrixed organization with multiple field offices in developing countries managing complex, multi-function teams with diverse portfolios.
  • Experience in the management of partnership and donor relationships with international organizations and well-versed in resource mobilization
  • Excellent communications skills in English, both orally and in writing; and agility for various traditional and modern communication modalities. Proficiency in other languages is an advantage.
  • Substantial international experience living and working across multiple countries, including developing and emerging economies.
  • Experience in multicultural and international organizations is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of GGGI’s mandate, operating model, strategic priorities, and country-driven delivery model is a distinct advantage

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Deputy Executive Director and Head of the Directorate of Green Finance and Corporate Services is an Executive-grade role within GGGI’s salary scale. For the Deputy Executive Director scale, the base salary starts at USD 213,612. In addition, GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, for eligible candidates, an expatriate allowance of 20% of base salary, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision.
