JOB TITLE: Programme Associate – Data Analysis

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE APPOINTMENT:

Assisting over 100 million people in around 83 countries each year, the World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with local communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. To be effective in this mandate WFP must ensure that it reaches the right people and that it manages its relationship with those individuals and their communities in a responsible, accountable, and effective manner.

In 2012 WFP launched its largest humanitarian response operation to address the food needs of Syrian refugees in Jordan. Since then, WFP has been providing food assistance to vulnerable groups on monthly basis to secure a stable access to food and stabilize their food security. Currently, WFP supports 85,000 refugees living in camps with monthly cash assistance. Livelihood programmes are also supported with cash-based transfers on an ad-hoc basis.

WFP is seeking to recruit a Programme Associate (Data Analysis) to support data‑driven assurance and oversight for Cash‑Based Transfers (CBT).

The Associate will serve as the focal point for data analysis related to identity management (IDM) and CBT assurance, supporting reconciliation, anomaly detection, verification exercises, and reporting. The role will contribute to strengthening programme controls, data quality, and evidence‑based decision‑making, and will work closely with CBT operational team and relevant stakeholders. The Associate will report to the National Officer for Cash‑Based Transfers.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyse IDM and CBT data to generate insights supporting assurance, controls, and operational decision‑making.

  • Contribute to monthly CBT assurance outputs by performing data reconciliation, anomaly detection, verification, and required analyses.

  • Write and maintain SQL queries and scripts to extract, reconcile, and validate data from corporate tools and country office systems.

  • Perform routine data quality checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of CBT datasets and reports.

  • Prepare monthly datasets and reporting outputs in line with corporate data governance and CBT requirements.

  • Under the guidance of the supervisor, act as a focal point for IDM and CBT assurance analysis and related reporting.

  • Support data availability and system transitions through dataset migration, testing, and coordination with HQ.

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and visualizations to support operational and management monitoring.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education:

Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area. University degree is desirable.

Experience:

Minimum 6 years of experience, composed of a minimum of 5 years in the field of the position and 1 year in any other field but preferably in the field of the position or related.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • SQL and tableau knowledge.

  • Experience building visualizations.

  • Problem-solving and client-oriented attitude.

Languages:

Fluency in both oral and written communication in English & Arabic.
