JOB TITLE : Programme Associate (VAM)
LOCATION: Tindouf

The Programme Associate (VAM Associate) will be embedded within the RAM unit and will provide specialized technical and analytical support to ensure data‑driven decision‑making, accountability, and performance monitoring in line with WFP corporate standards.
The position reports to the Head of RAM and operates with a high degree of autonomy, judgement, and responsibility.
JOB PURPOSE: To provide effective specialized support and technical analyses to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the VAM officer in the implementation of assessments and targeting activities in line with corporate VAM policies and guidance, including contributing to vulnerability, food security, and nutrition assessments (e.g. mVAM) through the design of tools, systems, and analysis of food assistance needs using SPSS, STATA, or R to inform evidence-based strategies and programmes;
Support the development of information products and knowledge management systems, including dashboards, SharePoint platforms, seasonal monitors, and price bulletins, while compiling, cleaning, and managing spatial and non-spatial datasets related to food security, socio-economic conditions, agro-ecology, nutrition and vulnerability
Maintain, update, and enhance databases and platforms (e.g. DataViz, MODA, VAM Data Library), ensuring data quality, consistency, accessibility, and proper documentation, and provide technical support to WFP staff and government counterparts to strengthen capacities in assessments, data analysis, and beneficiary targeting.
Prepare, consolidate, and quality assure analytical outputs including reports, briefs, presentations, dashboards, maps, and other data visualization products using tools such as GIS, Power BI, and Excel to support decision-making and reporting;
Contribute to the design, implementation, and quality assurance of VAM activities, including surveys and assessments, by monitoring data collection processes (sampling, training, supervision), conducting data quality checks, and managing, analyzing, and interpreting datasets related to food security, nutrition, markets, and programme performance;
Liaise with internal units, field teams, cooperating partners, and government counterparts to support coordinated data collection, monitoring, and reporting, while providing day-to-day technical guidance to field monitors, enumerators, and RAM support staff and contributing to knowledge management and dissemination of best practices;
Support emergency preparedness and response activities, including rapid assessments and timely data analysis during crises or shocks.
Support in delivering capacity building and development initiatives and sessions to local stakeholders including partners and community actors.
Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor in support of programme objectives and Country Office priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in economics, agriculture, social sciences, development studies, data science or related field is desirable
Experience Knowledge & Skills:
At least 6 years of progressively responsible work experience in food security and nutrition related data collection, analysis, and reporting. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of several statistical tools and methods for food security analysis such as SPSS, STATA, R and GIS.
Developed practical expertise in food security analysis and mapping by participating in multiple assessments
Experienced user of visualization software (Python, R, Power Bi, Tableau) and strong database Knowledge (SQL, MSAcess).
Experience interacting with partners and other stakeholders.
Experience working in a humanitarian context is a plus
Knowledge & Skills:
Good knowledge of statistics and data science.
Good Knowledge of statistical software
Good Knowledge of geographical information system.
Previous experience in humanitarian context
Previous experience in data management
Languages: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic. The French language is a plus.
