The Role

If so, you may be the perfect fit for our Coordinator, Stroke Prevention Project role.
We are seeking a Project Coordinator for an anticipated 18-month Stroke Prevention Project in Ethiopia. This Coordinator will play a pivotal role in coordinating and providing technical support for Last Mile Health’s (LMH) Stroke Prevention Project in Ethiopia. Operating at the intersection of clinical quality, digital health innovation, and community health, the Coordinator supports the upskilling of frontline providers and the delivery of critical interventions across designated implementation woredas.
The Coordinator will liaise closely with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Regional Health Bureaus (RHBs) to enhance Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) modules, cascade blended learning strategies, and integrate stroke prevention into the MOH's AI decision-making tool (HEP-Assist). The role focuses on building the capacity of Health Extension Workers (HEWs) and supervisors to improve community-level screening, referral tracking, and routine care for high-risk cardiovascular patients.
This role is project-funded and is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and is open to candidates who are located in and have work authorization in Ethiopia. This position will be hired on a fixed-term 18-month contract and is contingent upon a successful award.
What you’ll do
Instructional Design & Content Development
- Update blended learning modules and training materials to align with Ministry of Health (MOH) policies and the latest clinical guidance on stroke prevention and cardiovascular health.
- Support the development, review, translation, and localization of multimedia learning content for the Extension Essentials platform.
- Develop and update case studies, assessments, and other learning resources to strengthen frontline provider knowledge and skills.
Training & Field Implementation
- Coordinate and support the delivery of blended learning programs for Health Extension Workers (HEWs), supervisors, and other frontline health professionals.
- Provide technical support to regional, zonal, and woreda stakeholders to strengthen implementation and improve service quality.
- Lead community-based screening initiatives, referral coordination, and follow-up activities to improve early detection and management of cardiovascular disease.
- Design and implement pre- and post-training assessments to measure learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
Quality Improvement & Digital Health
- Support the adaptation, digitalization, and implementation of clinical quality improvement and decision support tools, including integration into the Ministry of Health's HEP-Assist platform.
- Collaborate with regional health teams to strengthen the use of digital tools that improve frontline service delivery.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning
- Partner with the MERL team to monitor program implementation, analyze training and service delivery data, and promote data-driven quality improvement.
- Contribute to knowledge management activities by documenting lessons learned and sharing best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with the Ministry of Health, Regional Health Bureaus, and other key stakeholders to support program implementation.
- Represent Last Mile Health in technical working groups and coordinate closely with government counterparts to advance stroke prevention and community health initiatives.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health or a related field required; a Master of Public Health (MPH) or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Progressive experience in clinical quality improvement, digital health innovation, and/or community health programs.
- Experience working within national and/or sub-national health systems, including collaboration with government stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or implementing primary health care interventions.
- Familiarity with the Community Health Information System (CHIS) and DHIS2.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build consensus, navigate complex environments, and drive results.
- Proven project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong knowledge management and organizational skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

- You have experience in training content and multimedia development to strengthen adult learners.
- You have experience in the implementation of NCD prevention activities
- You know existing data being tracked, specifically community health data.

For Ethiopia, the range is $13,094 - $24,733 USD per annum dependent upon experience doing an equivalent role. Please note that this compensation is subject to statutory taxes.
