Context Presentation: Un Ponte Per ETS (UPP) is an international humanitarian organization, with Headquarters in Italy. Originally named Un Ponte Per Baghdad (A Bridge to Baghdad), the association became Un Ponte Per after the extension of its work to other Mediterranean countries. UPP ETS is currently active in Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Serbia, Kosovo, Tunisia, and Ukraine alongside civil society organizations, with a strong localization approach. UPP strongly rejects war as a solution to international and national conflicts. It exerts relentless efforts with the ultimate objective of preventing armed conflicts and developing more equal and peaceful coexistence. The NGO acts through awareness campaigns, cultural exchanges, humanitarian and development projects, peacebuilding programs, and the creation of social justice networks. In Italy and in Europe, UPP works to promote peace and disarmament, human rights, refugees and migrants’ inclusion, and ecological transition. In Jordan, it has been active since 2005 with a strong focus on the protection of women and girls including Gender Based Violence (GBV), Child Protection (CP), and Psycho-social support (PSS) targeting the most vulnerable refugees, host community members and persons with disabilities (PWDs). Project brief: The project is funded by the Italian Cooperation Agency (AICS) “SPRING: Sistemi di PRotezione integrati e INclusivi per le comunità rifugiate e locali di Zarqa, Mafraq, Ramtha e Amman in Giordania.

The project seeks to promote the protection of the most vulnerable groups among refugees and host communities in the governorates of Zarqa, Amman, Mafraq, and Irbid in Jordan, through an integrated framework of protection, assistance, empowerment, and social inclusion, with a focus on women, girls, children, and persons with disabilities. The activities planned will address protection needs at the individual, group, and community levels, providing support and opportunities for economic empowerment, while working to strengthen the protection capacities of local communities. Through a collaborative and integrated approach, the partners will strive to generate positive and lasting impacts, while seeking to alleviate the immediate effects of the ongoing emergency, ensuring the safety and fundamental rights of vulnerable populations, preventing violence, abuse, and discrimination, and strengthening communities’ capacity to recognize and respond to protection needs.  

 

Position Overview 

The Field Coordinator will manage field-level implementation of SPRING project in Jordan, emphasizing coordination with partners, stakeholders, and communities while providing administrative support.  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate daily field activities for the project, including UPP team, partner NGOs focal points for community outreach/mobilization, as well as the plan for the project mobile unit team activities, aligned with M&E plan. 

  • Oversight of activity planning, feedback mechanisms, and risk assessments. 

  • Support UPP's contribution to consortium monthly, quarterly, interim and final reports, including beneficiary data, activity updates, case studies and output achievement against indicators. 

  • Draft internal UPP field reports, monitoring notes and lessons learned documents for sharing with UPP HQ. 

  • Liaise with local authorities, NGOs, UN agencies and communities to strengthen referrals, accountability, and multisectoral protection responses. 

  • Identify risks, support in developing mitigation plans, and ensure adherence to safeguarding, gender, and protection principles in all activities. 

  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to UPP-supported spaces and partner locations. 

  • Facilitate community engagement on feedback, complaints, and response mechanisms (FCRM). 

  • Print, organize, file, stamp, and archive documents in file boxes; manage staff documentation with proper SharePoint storage. 

  • Assist the Project Officer in drafting contracts and addendums. 

  • Provide general support to the Administration Department on ad hoc requests including field visits for follow-up in coordination with Country Admin. 

 

Project Development 

  • Contribute to the elaboration of new project proposals and concept notes, including stakeholder engagement, needs assessments, and partnership mapping. 

 

REQUIREMENTS 

Essential 

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences, international relations, development studies, project management, or related field. 

  • At least 3 years field experience in humanitarian/protection projects, with 2 years in coordination roles in Jordan. 

  • Proven skills in both coordination (team and partner management, stakeholder engagement) and administration (budgeting, reporting, MS Office). 

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities for field and admin duties. 

  • Problem-solving, risk management, and training/capacity-building skills. 

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills; ability to work effectively with diverse teams, partners, and communities. 

  • High degree of integrity, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitive protection cases. 

  • Arabic language proficiency at CEFR level C1 or above; English language proficiency at CEFR level B2 or above. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 

 

Desirable 

  • Proven capacity to manage project budgets, financial reporting, and procurement compliance. 

  • Knowledge of the Jordanian legal and regulatory framework relevant to NGO operations, protection services and disability inclusion. 

 

UPP requires criminal background check certificate (released max 3 months before the date of job offer) and a health clearance certificate to confirm a job offer. We are aware that in some countries the release of criminal background certificate by the competent authorities might require several weeks. However, UPP runs selections to deploy staff in emergency programs and time-lapse between job offer and field deployment is often very short. Thus, we kindly ask all candidates to get prepared on time and be able to submit their certificate promptly in case of success in the selection.
