Overview of positionUnder the direct supervision of the Logistics/Fleet Manager, the incumbent is required to provide security and safety services to improve staff safety, secure assets and protection of the designated car park (next to the company compound).
Role objectivesIn accordance with policy and procedures, the incumbent:
1- Performs the following in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
Screens, controls, and clears persons, packages and vehicles entering and exiting the premises; prevents weapons from entering the premises with the authority to deny entry;
Screens all pedestrians entering and exiting the premises; provides information, issues identification and directions to visitors, and explains company security procedures to staff and visitors;
Maintains paper and computer log books, completes shift reports, incident reports and records;
Assists in executing emergency evacuations/fire drills; inspects fire extinguishers and reports to supervisor;
2- Conducts foot-patrols for the purpose of identifying potential malfunction of physical security measures and other technical appliances and intercepting unauthorized persons attempting to enter the premises;
3- Reports urgent issues to the his/her supervisor and all non-urgent findings in the shift report;
4- Properly responds to medical incidents with First Aid and in accordance with incident management principles; Sends reports to appropriate Agency stakeholders; coordinates with local medical first responders as necessary;
5- Assists in facility evacuation drills, fire drills, emergency/incident response drills, mass casualty drills and readiness drills with local first responders; responds to fires in an appropriate manner; reports fire and safety violations/hazards to his/her supervisor, works and cooperates with assigned fire/floor wardens;
6- Correctly uses security equipment such as computers (basic computer skills), CCTV, communications equipment, fire alarm system, public announcement system etc;
7- Maintains alertness for any potential or actual breaches of security, disturbances or unusual activity such as hostile surveillance detection and reports these to his/her supervisor;
8- Drive in and out and park the vehicles in the car park. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
Project reportingThis role works under the direct supervision of the Logistics / Fleet Manager. |
Demonstrated ability to solve operational issues/problems;
Professional and courteous attitude;
Ability to work effectively in a stressful environment;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity including gender balance;
Basic working knowledge of computer hardware and software programmes;
Effective oral communication skills and ability to explain humanitarian security policies and procedures;
Maintains a high sense of confidentiality
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Basic computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications.
Experience in humanitarian guard force.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The incumbent must be mentally and physically fit;
The incumbent must have a clean criminal record;
All duties are performed in uniform however at time the incumbent may be required to perform duties in civilian clothes;
Duties may require long periods of standing;
The incumbent is required to perform night-shift duty;
In order to facilitate continuous operations during crises, priority will be given to candidates who live close to the Duty Station.
This role has no team management responsibility
