Job Trainee, Markets and Finance

(Temporary assignment, 6 months) (Rome,
Italy)

The Organization

The
Agroecology Coalition ( www.agroecology-coalition.org) is hosted by Bioversity International in Rome, Italy.
Its purpose is to accelerate the food systems transformation through
agroecology. It is composed of more than 550 members, including governments, regional
commissions and organizations (farmers’ associations, indigenous peoples’
associations, research organizations, CSOs/NGOs, UN agencies, and
philanthropy).

The Agroecology Coalition secretariat is located at the Bioversity
International headquarters in Rome.

About
the position

Based in Rome, Italy, and under the direct supervision of
the Executive Coordinator, the trainee will provide assistance to the Agroecology
Coalition and support various tasks related to financing and market pathways
for agroecology.

Responsibilities

  • Support the overall work of the Coalition’s Finance and
    Investments Working Group and the Markets Working Group (e.g. assisting with drafting
    agenda and minutes, setting up meetings, tracking the implementation of the
    annual workplan, etc.).

  • Support activities related to fostering connection
    between agroecology and school feeding (assisting with setting up online discussions,
    gathering evidence on this topic, contributing to knowledge product development,
    etc.).

  • Contribute to the preparations for the 2027 Agroecology
    Donors Convening.

  • Provide assistance with scanning of potential funding
    opportunities (e.g., Calls for Proposal, etc.) for the Coalition and its
    members

  • Undertake other related duties as required.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Secondary school education.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite packages.

  • Working knowledge of English, both written and spoken

  • Good interpersonal, communications, and teamwork skills,
    courtesy and tact, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working
    relationships with people of different cultural and national backgrounds.

  • Good skills in personal organization and priority setting.

  • Good research and writing skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous internship experience.

  • University degree in economics, business, development
    studies, political sciences, or related fields.

  • Working knowledge of additional languages (e.g. French,
    Spanish, Portuguese).

  • Work experience in an international environment and on
    food system related topics.

Benefits

Terms of employment

This is a job traineeship, and the monthly salary is Euro 1,217.13.

The contract is initially for a period of six (6) months. The contract
may be extendable based on performance and availability of funds.

Expected start date: second week of September 2026 (tentative).

  • Be Italian nationals holding a valid passport
    or identity card.

  • Or be EU citizens holding a valid passport or
    identity card and confirmation of registration from the Registrar’s Office
    (Anagrafe).

  • Or Non –
    EU citizens holding a valid Italian work permit (permesso di soggiorno per
    lavoro subordinato).
