Overview of position

Reporting to the Regional Director, the Country Manager will be the most senior position for CTG's operations within the assigned country. This role is accountable for the overall performance of the business in-country, with a key focus on driving growth through business development, sales efforts, and improving operational efficiency. The Country Manager will ensure that operations are conducted in compliance with local laws, CTG policies, and client expectations. They will lead the team in the country, oversee safety and have duty-of-care responsibilities, and serve as the main point of contact for both internal stakeholders and external partners/clients. Additionally, the Country Manager will be responsible for managing finances and ensuring the financial health of the operations. 

Role objectives

Delivery of service and client relationships

  • Supervise the delivery of CTG services in-country, ensuring quality standards are met and services are delivered within the agreed contractual terms and conditions.

  • Monitor and assess operational performance against established goals, KPIs, and client satisfaction metrics.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients.

  • Act as the point of escalation for complex issues or for high-priority client issues, ensuring resolution in a timely and professional manner.

  • Provide regular reports to regional and senior leadership on operational performance, financial results, and client feedback.

Team management and leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the country team, ensuring alignment with CTG's global objectives and culture.

  • Oversee recruitment, training, information sharing, performance management, and development of CTG’s permanent staff in-country.

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and results-driven work environment.

Duty-of-care & safety management

  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all CTG permanent staff and CTG consultants within the country, especially in high-risk and hard-to-reach areas.

  • Implement and enforce CTG’s duty-of-care policies and crisis management protocols, providing guidance and oversight to the team.

  • Regularly review and assess risks, ensuring that appropriate mitigation measures are in place.

Government & regulatory relations

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with local government authorities, regulators, and key stakeholders to facilitate CTG’s operations.

  • Ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and permits, while advocating for CTG’s interests with local authorities.

  • Stay informed of local political, legal, and economic developments that could affect CTG’s operations.

Financial & operational oversight

  • Oversee the financial health of CTG’s operations in assigned country, ensuring profitability, cost control, and adherence to budgets. Monitor financial performance and identify cost-saving opportunities to optimize outcomes.

  • Provide the regional director with the necessary information for monthly regional scorecards, including clear financial reporting, budget variance notifications, and justifications.

  • Oversee financial reporting, ensuring accuracy in SAGE posting and timely adherence to finance timelines, aiming to eliminate manual processes in the field.

  • Contribute to the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis, aligning them with business development activities to meet financial goals.

  • Manage local compliance, including tax optimization, statutory payments, and maintaining operating licenses, while overseeing local banking relationships, cash management, and debt collection.

  • Oversee procurement, asset management, fleet management, and administrative functions, ensuring efficient and effective support for operations.

Business development & strategic growth

  • Identify and explore new business opportunities, including potential clients, market expansion, and diversification of CTG’s services in assigned country.

  • Develop and implement strategies to expand CTG’s client base, ensuring sustainable growth in the local market.

  • Lead efforts in close collaboration with the Global Business Development & Sales team to enhance CTG’s competitive position, increase market share, and drive revenue growth in-country.

  • Ensure alignment between business development strategies and financial goals to ensure long-term success and profitability

Project reporting

This position reports to the Regional Director

Key competencies
  • Education: University degree in Management, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field (Master’s’ degree is preferred).

  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years’ experience in managing operations in challenging environments, particularly in remote or high-risk locations. Proven experience in team management, business development, and managing complex client relationships.

  • Languages: Fluent in English

  • Demonstrated ability to manage financials, budgets, and resources effectively.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with clients, local authorities, and internal teams.

  • In-depth knowledge of duty-of-care, risk management, and safety protocols.

  • Experience in strategic planning, business development, and market expansion.

  • High level of business acumen and decision-making capabilities.

  • Proficiency in managing operations in compliance with legal, regulatory, and client requirements.

  • A proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to manage evolving challenges in the operational landscape
